April 2026 Blogging Highlights: WordPress Block Themes, Old Cameras & New Beginnings

After a short unplanned break, the monthly roundups are finally back! Life got busy, the posts got away from me for a bit, but I’m picking things up again, and I’m excited to share what you may have missed.

Why These Roundups Are Back

I asked myself whether monthly roundup posts were beneficial.

After receiving readers’ thanks, it seems clear that these posts are a great way to help people catch up on what they’ve missed. After all, life is busy for many of us, so polite reminders help.

What do you think—do these kinds of posts help you?

Here are the posts I published this month:

The point Marsha made about parking on a blog and rereading older posts is exactly why these round up summaries work so well. They give a curious reader a map of what to come back to. The mix of WordPress block themes and old cameras in a single roundup is also nicely characteristic of how blogs evolve as the writer’s interests do. Looking forward to next month.

Thank you for the feedback on my monthly round-up posts. I’ll definitely continue publishing them.

I love your round-up posts, Hugh. I occasionally park on your blog just breathing it in – like today – rereading older posts. You can’t see me ghosting through your blog. It’s like one of those people in a scary library. One of those ghosts might have my face. LOL

I’ve heard of ‘camping out’ on blogs, Marsha. I don’t do it myself, but it is a great way of catching up on what you may have missed.

Thank you for the thumbs-ups on my round-up posts. I will continue with this feature.

You do a great job with it. It sends me down a rabbit hole when I try it. I want to write too much. I should have Chatty do it for me, but I won’t. I’ll just enjoy yours. You have an incredibly organized mind. And if that’s your desk, it’s organized, too. You should see mine. It’s sad.

I’ve never been able to work in chaos, Marsha. When I was working, I once won ‘The Cleanest Desk’ award. I got a week off as a prize.

How cool! I’ve seen worse than mine, and when I was working, I never left the office without cleaning it off. However, at home, I never leave the office for the day. Sometimes I come back in the middle of the night. Ana I share it with my husband, who doesn’t have the dame attitude. So somehow it works, but it doesn’t look spotless. :) xxx I love yours more!

Any particular posts, or all of them, Linda?

      1. Linda Schaub avatar

Hugh, my comment was with respect to all the work that you put in to restructure your blog, then you wanted to “revive” (for lack of a better word) all your regular features that you had set aside momentarily to do so. I should have been a bit clearer in my comment.

That’s lovely feedback. Thank you so much, Linda.

    Hi Hugh

Are you going to be doing anymore writing prompts any time soon, because I really enjoyed doing them?

    Tom

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Hi Tom, I’ve done photography prompts in the past, but not writing prompts, here on my blog. Unless you can prove me wrong. What was the last one I did?

  6. Michelle (Boomer Eco Crusader) avatar
