What an amazing photo! I’m ready for summer to end and for the season of hot cocoa and warm fuzzy socks to begin!
Tiz almost here. Some of the coffee shops are already offering Autumnal flavoured drinks.
Beautiful photo! When the leaves begin to change color, and the crickets are chirping, summer is ending, in spite of warm temperatures.
I haven’t heard the sound of crickets for many years. That’s a childhood memory for me.
It’s a delightful sound to signal the end of summer. Glad you heard it as a child.
What a stunning shot, Hugh! I love the sound of the waves and breathing in the fresh air. Our mornings are cool and refreshing but the afternoons are still summery.
Living by the sea helps keep the heat at bay, Eugi. Refreshing sea breezes are lovely during the summer months.

Some leaves are getting red tinges on them but that might be they are stressed out from the heat as well. It’s been a very warm Summer here in North America.

I love a beach. There’s something special about the sea. It always relaxes me. I don’t mind if it’s summer or winter.
I love the sound of the sea, the waves, and the look of the sea, but I’m not keen on going in it, Esther. It’s nice to look at it from the beach.
I agree – it’s definitely too cold in the UK, even on a hot summer’s day!
It’s more about what’s in the water that concerns me these days, Esther.

Lovely beach for sure and would love to walk there. Our summer is also coming to an end here in Canada. We have had rain the past number of days, but the sun is still trying to show up from time to time.

We’ve had a very wet summer, Esme. But it’s also been cool most of the time rather than too hot. Perfect for me.
Totally agree, prefer the cooler temps, although we have had as high as almost 100F as well. I wilt with those type of temps.
Thankfully, it never gets that hot where I live, Esme. The hottest so far has been around the mid-80s. I dislike humidity the most.

I’ll send you some 96 degree (35C) weather that is expected over this holiday weekend! Our mornings are cold–high 40s. I told Hans its like living in a mountain cabin at the end of summer. What I signed up for (except the 96F) :)
No, I was the one taking the photos, Terri. I took the photo on Monday (which was a holiday in the UK). The last Monday in August marks the end of the summer season in the UK.
No thank you to 96 degrees. The highest temperature in Swansea this summer was 81 degrees (for one day), which was enough for me. I’ve rather enjoyed our cool (and often wet) summer this year. Everything is green and looks lush, although many of the summer flowers are now beginning to show signs of going over. Some of the autumn plants have already made an appearance. And in some of the shops, there’s already Christmas stuff! – did I really just say that?
It’s a great shot of the beach! We’ve had a hotter than normal summer, lots of wildfires and smoke. I’ve seen ads for Halloween stuff already and Costco and Home Depot have Christmas stuff slowly rolling out. Sigh!
Tiz the season now, Terri. Once the last bank holiday weekend is over, it’s a bouncy ride to Christmas, calling in at Halloween, Bonfire Night and Advent Sunday on the way.

Yes, unfortunately summer is coming to its end, although I don’t feel there’s actually been much of a summer.
Not this year, Cathy. Thankfully, though, hardly any hot and humid days where I live this summer. I’ve been able to sleep comfortably. But it is forecast to be nice this weekend, just in time for the new school year to start next week.
Yes, there is that. Humidity isn’t good.
Hugh, there isn’t any indication here in Chicago! I suspect it will happen by next week when the weather becomes slightly cooler. However, this week the temperatures have been ranging from 28C – 33C!
We haven’t seen temperatures that high this summer in Swansea, Cher. Most of the summer has been cool and wet, and some of the leaves are already starting their descent.
Oh, have you not, Hugh? Is it the usual time of year for some of the leaves to start falling? When I see photos of leaves in Canada starting to drop, I can count from there at least three weeks until ours start the same path! To some, that might be a good thing; however, Autumn is my favorite time of year, so I love it when the leaves turn color and (as you perfectly stated!) start their descent!

I’m drawing the curtains earlier in the evening.
Yes, a beach on the south Wales coast, June. Most of the summer visitors have departed, although the good weather may bring some of them back this weekend. One last dip in the sea before the schools go back next week.
I haven’t started drawing the curtains yet, but I have had to change the timers on the lamps.
I’m thinking of the beautiful Gower!

The Virginia Creeper on my trellis is already turning red. It’s getting dark by 8pm. I’m still sitting in the conservatory reading, but with a blanket and a hot water bottle as the heating won’t be switched on until October. And I bought a pair of ‘winter’ shoes.
I’ve been tempted to switch the heating on, but not before September. And I hear summer is making a rare appearance on the weekend.
Fingers crossed, Hugh. This year has been one of extremes and I don’t to well in excessive heat or cold. Must be my age :-)
I can’t cope with too much heat, especially when it comes to humidity, Eileen. I’m much happier with the cold and being able to wrap up warm.

Cooler evenings
I love it when the evenings get cool. It’s a subtle sign of autumn.

Winter is ending when buds and blossoms start appearing on plants, the birds are more active, people start wearing sunglasses, and everyone has the urge to fire up the BBQ!
That’s all true. However, I also wear sunglasses in the winter, as the light can be dazzling sometimes, especially when the sky is crystal clear, usually after a very cold night.
I’m noticing all the little Seasonal nuances as I’ve recently moved to a new area (tree change) – it must be the humidity that makes the sky colourless rather than the clear vibrant blue I’ve seen in other areas in winter. That said, I love the humidity. Thanks for the reminder to notice our surroundings and the changes.
I dislike humidity more than anything else, especially during the summer. It turns me into a grumpy man, as you can tell just by me saying the word.
