Beautiful picture. Happy belated solstice!
Thank you! Enjoy the summer.
Sunrises, my preference. Beautiful image!
Thank you, Debra. I’m a sunrise fan, too.
A tough choice, since both sunsets and sunrises are glorious. But I think I prefer sunrises. The freshness that they bring is wonderful 🌞
Yes, fresh mornings are much better than humid nights. I’m not a lover of hot and humid. Give me cool and fresh any day.
Beautiful photo, Hugh. I prefer sunrises, and I would get up early when I lived in Florida to watch the sun rise over the ocean. It’s a beautiful way to start the day.
I bet, Eugi. I’m more of a morning person. I like to make the most of the daylight hours, although it’s difficult getting up to watch the sunrise at this time of the year (sunrise where I live is at 04:55).
4:55 would be a bit early for me too, Hugh.
Here’s my Wordless Wednesday entry. No sunrise or sunset, but an amazing sight up in the sky!
UFO* in the Night Sky #WordlessWednesday – Retirementally Challenged
I’ll certainly be checking it out, Janis. Anything related to UFOs interests me. I’ve never seen one, but I do believe they must exist.
Beautiful photo, Hugh! It looks like a SoCal summer evening… but it’s probably not.
Taken last summer on the south coast of Devon in the UK, Janis. The beach is a surfers’ paradise, though.
I generally prefer sunsets, because of the timing. Most places where we camp and travel, sunrise would be too early and you’d have to get up for it. Lazy me is just that, lazy. But during certain times of the year and in certain places of the world, the sun rises well after 7am, which makes it blissful to watch. Because this rarely happens, and nobody else is around usually. :)
I enjoy sunrises more, especially during the winter as I’m not up early enough in the summer to see them. Plus, because of the position of our house, we never see the sun set. Although I have witnessed some spectacular sunsets when on holiday, like the one in the photo on this post.
One of your best photos Hugh – and it’s sunrise for me.
Thank you so much, Paul. Glad you think so. The light was just right when I took the photo.
Sunsets – because I’m never awake to see a sunrise!
I don’t see summer sunrises (too early), but as the sun does not rise until after 8am here in the UK (and I get up about 6:30), I love watching the winter sunrises.
I may have seen one or two bleerily last winter!
I find sunrises more powerful but you can’t beat a nice sunset. Here’s my what the heck is it pic: https://jttwissel.com/2024/06/19/abstract-wordlesswednesday/
Thanks, Jan. I’m more of a fan of sunrises, but I’ve witnessed some incredible sunsets too.

What a gorgeous view. but to answer your question: Both are gorgeous and different so I love them both.

That’s a great answer, Esme.
Thanks so much for participating and sharing at #32 #WW (Words welcome). See you next week Wednesday, https://esmesalon.com/tag/wordlesswednesday/
What a gorgeous photo, Hugh! You know, I have pondered this question many times. I still have no definitive answer! Cher xoxoxo
Thanks, Cher. Yes, it’s a tough question, isn’t it? We don’t see sunsets because of our house’s position, but the sunrises are amazing, especially in the winter.
Yes, it really is a tough question! The same over here, Hugh! Winter brings many treasures! I’ll bet the sunrises are amazing!
Recently, I watched a beautiful show about Wales, Hugh. It was one of those “fly over” programs where everything is seen from a drone’s perspective. My goodness, Wales is spectacular (knowing that you already know this! *grin*) Cher xoxoxo
That sounds like an interesting show, Cher. Can you recall what the programme was called? I hope it may be available here in the UK.
Yes, here it is on youtube, Hugh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnqltLJh6Zs&t=659s&ab_channel=Top10ToDoList
I do hope you can see it! It is done in “4K” so it is very clear!
Thank you, Cher. I have a 4K TV, so I will watch it there.
That’s great, Hugh! Please let me know if you enjoyed it! Cher xoxoxo
Unbelievable, we are almost there again.
Yes, tomorrow, apparently.
Wow..
There is something so mesmerizing and special about a beach sunset, Hugh. This is spectacular. Hmmm, I see surfers heading out…sunrise or sunset? Happy solstice tomorrow!
This was sunset on June 21st, 2023, Terri. I thought you’d like the surfers. We were staying at a place known for surfers and perfect seas for them. I didn’t go in, though. I didn’t realise when I took the photo that a couple on the beach were taking photos of each other against the amazing sunset.
Spectacular photo Hugh. I’m a lover of sunsets, especially over water!
Thank you, Michelle. Because of our house’s position, I don’t get to see many sunsets. My favourite are winter sunrises, which seem more spectacular where we live.
We live in a low-lying area so I don’t get to see many sunrises or sunsets from the comfort of my garden or home. There is a higher area that I can walk to if I want to see a sunset…maybe that’s why I’m partial to sunsets. Have a wonderful day, Hugh!
