Summer Solstice #WordlessWednesday #Photography

Wordless Wednesday – No words, just pictures. Allow your photo(s) to tell the story.

Photo of the sun setting over the sea on the summer solstice 2023. On the beach, two surfers head out to the sea, and a couple take sunset photos.

  1. Beautiful photo, Hugh. I prefer sunrises, and I would get up early when I lived in Florida to watch the sun rise over the ocean. It’s a beautiful way to start the day.

    1. I bet, Eugi. I’m more of a morning person. I like to make the most of the daylight hours, although it’s difficult getting up to watch the sunrise at this time of the year (sunrise where I live is at 04:55).

  2. I generally prefer sunsets, because of the timing. Most places where we camp and travel, sunrise would be too early and you’d have to get up for it. Lazy me is just that, lazy. But during certain times of the year and in certain places of the world, the sun rises well after 7am, which makes it blissful to watch. Because this rarely happens, and nobody else is around usually. :)

    1. I enjoy sunrises more, especially during the winter as I’m not up early enough in the summer to see them. Plus, because of the position of our house, we never see the sun set. Although I have witnessed some spectacular sunsets when on holiday, like the one in the photo on this post.

    1. I don’t see summer sunrises (too early), but as the sun does not rise until after 8am here in the UK (and I get up about 6:30), I love watching the winter sunrises.

    1. Thanks, Cher. Yes, it’s a tough question, isn’t it? We don’t see sunsets because of our house’s position, but the sunrises are amazing, especially in the winter.

      1. Yes, it really is a tough question! The same over here, Hugh! Winter brings many treasures! I’ll bet the sunrises are amazing!

Recently, I watched a beautiful show about Wales, Hugh. It was one of those “fly over” programs where everything is seen from a drone’s perspective. My goodness, Wales is spectacular (knowing that you already know this! *grin*) Cher xoxoxo

    1. This was sunset on June 21st, 2023, Terri. I thought you’d like the surfers. We were staying at a place known for surfers and perfect seas for them. I didn’t go in, though. I didn’t realise when I took the photo that a couple on the beach were taking photos of each other against the amazing sunset.

    1. Thank you, Michelle. Because of our house’s position, I don’t get to see many sunsets. My favourite are winter sunrises, which seem more spectacular where we live.

      1. We live in a low-lying area so I don’t get to see many sunrises or sunsets from the comfort of my garden or home. There is a higher area that I can walk to if I want to see a sunset…maybe that’s why I’m partial to sunsets. Have a wonderful day, Hugh!
