I saw a play called Richard, My Richard by brilliant historical novelist Philippa Gregory about a month ago and gave a standing ovation to that. But hey, you know how I feel about Elton!
I do, and what a showman he is, Paul.
I’ve not heard of the play you mentioned but if it got a standing ovation from you, then that’s a great recommendation.
Ah, Sir Elton John! I’ve not had the pleasure of seeing him but I would love to! That is a great photo, Hugh!
Sadly, he’s now retired from touring, but who knows? I’ve seen many musicians come back to tour again. They usually call it ‘The come back tour.’
Yes, I read where he retired. I hope he does a come back tour. The radio station I listen to plays his songs consistently. Bliss!
On Saturday afternoon. We went to see Jersey Boys and it was wonderful!
I’ve seen that show twice. Once in London and also here in Swansea. I love it.
must have been amazing !
It was!
When an old band mate got his first gig at a very popular bar.
That’s great. It’s even better when a standing ovation is for somebody you personally know.
Awesome, you saw Elton John!!! Great!
Yes, I’ve seen him in concert three times.
Wonderful!!
At my grandson’s Metropolitan Winds Orchestra performance!
How wonderful. What instrument does he play?
He plays four different wind instruments, Bassoon, Baritone Sax, Alto Sax, and Tuba. He just turned eighteen. :)
Wow! Do you think he has a career as a musician in an orchestra? It sounds like it to me. The BBC concert orchestra is very well-known and loved in the UK.
I don’t think Ryan wants to pursue a career in music, but he does plan to continue to play in a band or orchestra in college.
I wanted to scroll FAST past the other answers to guess, Sir Elton?
And you are correct!
This year at the end of a walking tour.. Standing ovation – for you are standing at the end of a walking tour 😉..
My entry here:
That’s different but makes perfect sense.
My granddaughter’s dance recital!
How lovely!
Unable to recall when last I went to a show!
My contribution for this week.: The Bear went over the Mountain, do you remember the song?
Also feel free to participate at #23 WW
I’m afraid I don’t. But I’ll look it up.
I wouldn’t have guessed Elton John.
He’s a fantastic showman. Always puts on a great show.
I can believe it.
I had to cheat and read the comments, Hugh. Wow, Elton John! How cool to see him in concert! He’s been actively singing and writing since the 60s.
I say this farewell tour two years ago, Terri. The one in the photo was taken in Las Vegas back in 2013.
Well, I was going to say Elton John (I went to one of his last tour’s stops here in the US) but the hair isn’t right.
You’re right, it is Elton John. He’s sat at the piano. This concert was in Las Vegas. Well done.
Well how about that! The concert was fantastic!
It was. He’s the real showman.
Great photo! I don’t know who the performer is, but I’d like to know. :D
I’ll reveal the answer on next week’s Wordless post unless anyone gets it right in the comments section of this post.
Awesome! I’ll keep checking back! :D
I’m not able to guess it, Hugh. I’m not so apt when it comes to musicians. I know Rick Wakeman from the band “Yes” performed here in Santiago, Chile, a couple of weekends ago and we just missed him. I don’t think he flew to the UK this past weekend, though.
I checked and Rick Wakeman starts his UK tour on 29th November, 2024, Liesbet. Sadly, he’s not coming to Swansea, though!
My guess is Edgar Winter because of the white hair.
I had to look up who Edgar Winter is, Darlene. It seems he’s only ever had one hit in the UK with the song Frankenstein. It peaked at number 18 in the singles’ chart in 1973.
Sorry, I thought he was more universal than that. Now, I am curious to know who the performer is.
If nobody guesses who it is, I’ll reveal the answer in next weeks Wordless Wednesday post.
thats a great action shot Hugh and I love the way you’ve caught the lights 💜💜
The light show this artist had as part of their show was as good as the show itself, Willow. They certainly knew how to put on a show.
great photo Hugh💜
