I’d love to visit that castle! I bet its amazing!
We are blessed to have so many castles to visit in Wales, Carol anne.
I couldn’t make out the flag, and I wasn’t familiar enough with the colors and shape, but others have guessed, but I read this post particularly because I like questions and clues – once a teacher always a teacher! I didn’t see evidence of paranormal activity. Is there some?
Not as far as I am aware, Marsha. Although, given the castle was built in the 12th century, I’m sure it will have some ghosts.
It would make a great place to set a story, for sure! :)
The wonderful Wales. No idea which castle though!
It’s Oystermouth castle in The Mumbles. It’s a wonderful castle to visit. Very popular during the summer months.
Wales!
How did you know?
I know that flag well.
Our new home!
This one is just ruins, so I don’t think it would make a good home (unless you are some kind of wildlife). I do know that owls live in the ruins.
well I am late to the party and Noelle has answered your question so I will just say it’s a beautiful sight 💜
Nobody is ever late here on my blog, Willow. If comments are open, then come on in. I am blessed to be living near two castles (Swansea and Oystermouth). The picture is of Oystermouth castle.
It’s a beautiful place we spent a week in this area pre covid. It was gorgeous 💜
I’m glad you enjoyed the area, Willow. I am blessed to be living in such a lovely area.
Yes indeed you are, wonderful views and beaches too. 💜💜💜
I don’t know this but similar views even only in our country. We have two of such castles (like ruins) maybe a mile apart from each other. Another one abut 6 miles away. And there are two bigger habitable castles too. One is the residence of our prince. I like visiting or looking at these castles and imagine how life might have been back then.
The habitable castles are amazing because they’ve survived for so long, Erika. But the ruins of castles are also just as amazing to explore. I’m glad you have some near that you can visit.
I agree! So much history to see and perceive. Yes, we have even more in a bit a greater surrounding. The area around us (Austria, Switzerland, Germany) is covered with castles and ruins too.
Looks like a lonely little castle on a hill sitting very still!
They only move if we get earthquakes. Thank goodness, we don’t get them in the UK, otherwise, these old buildings would have all been grounded and their history would have been wiped away.
It looks like a lovely castle Hugh. I need to organise a holiday/trip to Wales
We have so many to visit, Brenda. But I hear Scotland also has its fair share of castles.
One or two Hugh 😃
I’ll need to start visiting again
Wow, how cool to walk up the hill and see a castle, Hugh! Something I want to do someday! I wouldn’t know another country’s flag if it smacked me in the face. Glad someone else knew. Wales seems like a magical country.
We are blessed to have more castles per square mile than any other country in the world, Terri. There are two castles within 2 miles of where I live. They’re great to visit, especially if you like history.
Wow, love that. Coincidentally I’m watching The Crown on Netflix. The episode that documents King Charles semester to study Welch just began. What a fascinating history!
I’m watching the final season of The Crown at the moment. I remember the investiture of the Prince of Wales (as he was the) very well. As a child, we all got a commemorative mugs and a coin. It was a full day of celebrating.
Yup, the clue is in the flag. Wales’s dragon!
Correct. Well done, Noelle.
I’m going to take a stab at it and say this is in Scotland. ??? Great photo!
Thank you. No, not Scotland. The clue is in the flag.
That looks an interesting place to visit, Hugh.
Oystermouth castle. Only a 25 minute walk for me to reach it, Cathy. Closed during the winter months, but due to reopen from Easter.
How lovely to be so close.
This photo makes me long for summer even more. Thanks for sharing!
I’m not a fan of the summer months. Too hot and humid for me, but spring and autumn are delights.
Yeah, we’re all different. I see what you mean. Way too hot summers are no fun either, but I prefer that to cold and lots of snow.
