Great write-up, Hugh. I’m sure this post will come in handy for a lot of bloggers. Nobody shows up as anonymous on my blog, but I have experienced leaving a comment myself on someone’s blog and showing up there as “anonymous”. This article will be a good one to fall back on if this happens again.

Good to know you never faced this problem. Having a Gravatar profile undoubtedly helps prevent it, though I’ve always had a Gravatar and have experienced the problem. I found the best way to clear the problem was to clear the cache and cookies from my browsers.
I had to change it to reset my WP and be able to be logged in for comments. 🤣😎🙃

Being anonymous seems to have been resolved but I still get notifications saying I have to be signed in when I am already signed it. Or I keep having to put my password in. It is frustrating and now and again I almost give up but don’t….take a deep breath and do what it takes.
That has happened to me, Cathy. However, as soon as I clear the cookies and cache on the device I am using, it works great again. Clearing the cache and cookies helps with the housekeeping of our devices.
I had this issue for a while. I had to change my WP password so I could be logged in while reading other blogs. 🤣😎🙃
