Beautiful.
A beautiful light fixture. Are those dragons at the base? Cool!
Well spotted, Dave. Maybe made of gold? Who knows?
Wow! Such a lovely and intricate piece. I would be afraid to touch it for fear of breaking it. I would love to have a piece like that in my hallway.
Same here, Eugi. Delicate hands would be needed. That counts me out.
This is breathtaking, Hugh! I literally gasped when I saw it!
Likewise, Cher. It’s a beautiful piece of art. Sadly, my hands will never touch anything like this for fear of dropping it.
I can literally relate, Hugh! Whenever I have had the occasion to be in the presence of something so grand, I immediately want to look at it from afar! LOL
Always look up. Especially when visiting stately mansions etc.
I agree. There is so much to see up there.
What beautiful workmanship! Yes – still in shock here in California.
I wonder if there is one like this in the Oval Office?
That’s stunning. I think I’d crick my neck if I had one like that as I’d always be looking up at it!
That is very true, Esther. I guess you could always put it above your bed and look up at it, though.
Very true!
WOW, Absolutely an amazing antique piece. You will need a specific house to be able to showcase such a piece.
Come and share with us at ES #52 #WordlessWednesday
My contribution this week: Hummingbirds
Absolutely! I would not want to have anything like that in my house for fear of it getting broken.
A lampshade? My first guess was a chandelier. It’s so ornate and elegant, Hugh, a great shot! Looks like a bit of maintenance and dusting 😆
I wasn’t quite sure whether it was a chandelier or a lampshade, Terri. But it was a breathtaking work of art, and I certainly would not want to be the one who had to clean it.
A beautiful and artistic lampshade. As a child when I saw chandeliers I love to stand beneath them, look up, and twirl about seeing all the glitter and colors going round,
I recall doing the same. Then I discovered disco balls and had to have one in my bedroom while dancing to Saturday Night Fever.
Wow! Gorgeous!
What a gorgeous lampshade. I’ve love it in my house although it would probably overwhelm. Who designed it?
I’m afraid I don’t know. It was in a large house that was open to the public to look around. Lots of different themed rooms, with many antiques in them, most of which were cordoned off. But such an interesting place to look around.
I might have been tempted to see if it could be purloined! Not!
The world will need the light – this light – after today…
Absolutely, Liesbet. Let’s hope the light stays on for the next four years. Many of us woke up to shock this morning.
Beautifully captured!.
Sadly this one needs regular cleaning. Hope it is not in the museum hall.
It was inside a museum, although more of a place of interest than a museum.
Thank you for this information.
they would look stunning 💜
that is gorgeous Hugh! <3
I thought so, too, Carol Anne.
A beautiul view!!!
I think so, too.
I wouldn’t mind that lighting up my life! It’s very beautiful.
I’d hate to be the one to have to clean it or change the lightbulb, Cathy.
Yes, that’s a good point, Hugh. It must be a job and a half.
And with plenty of insurance – just in case.
Absolutely, I dread to think how much that would have cost.
What a beautiful lampshade….in your hallway I guess 😉💜💜💜
I wish! I’d have one in each room even if they had to be dusted weekly.
