Fantastic wordless image. Leaves much to the imagination. Maybe was in a hurry, or fell out of a gym bag? :)
Yes, very valid reasons, Debby. I need to do more statue hunting.
That sounds like a fun hobby! :)
I love everything about this photo, Hugh. This would be a fantastic stimulus for creative writing – once a teacher always a teacher! Here’s my effort: Where in the World 2? #Wordless Wednesday – Fancying France
You (or anybody) are welcome to give it a go, June. I do enjoy photo (and writing) prompts although do not do anywhere near as many as I used to.
interesting piece of art :)

Thank you.
Hum, a wild night gone awry?
Who knows? Much better than finding somebody’s lost undergarments I guess.
A left shoe left behind.
Right! No, I mean left.
You reminded me of my growing up in Brooklyn, NY where it was never a problem to find a pair of sneakers, Sneakers were thrown and left hanging above everyone’s heads dangling by their shoelaces from wires. So you walked down the street and saw all these sneakers hanging above. I never quite figured out why there was this time but there was and it always seemed so odd to me,
I remember seeing the same on telegraph wires, although I never see it happening anymore. It may have something to do with the reply I just left Erika about why shoes used to be tied to the high branches of some trees.
That’s an amazing piece of art, Hugh.
I thought so, too, Cathy. It was a very big piece of art you could not miss on the beach.
Interesting sculpture! :) How odd to find a random shoe there. If only it could talk…
I often see random shoes either left or washed up on the beach. It makes me wonder where the other one is.
I always wonder how someone can lose ONE shoe 😅
I’ve seen random shoes left on the beach. I guess they can fall out of bags, but they are strange sights when you see just one. It’s a little like finding a random sock in my drawer.
Yes, exactly 😅 But that’s right, there they can fall out of a bag. What I always think is weird is when I see a single shoe in the middle of a road. Ok, maybe they just threw a pair out of the window and both shoes ended up at different places. But here too, it looks weird.
Agreed. I’ve also seen shoes tied to trees, but I heard there were good reasons for that. Apparently it’s a sign that drugs that can be bought from under the tree at certain times of the day and night. However, the authorities are now on to that so it doesn’t happen anymore.
Oh, the secret communication. Interesting 😄
Hahaha, Hugh, this just struck me as funny! Such a lovely pastoral beach setting…then a random shoe! I lost a flip flop years ago at the delta I suppose. I’ve stubbornly kept the other one…just in case.
Just in case, Terri. That sounds like me with boxes. I keep them, just in case, but I end up with so many that my partner threatens me with, ‘It’s me or the boxes that have to go!’ I’m pleased to say he’s still here.
🤣
Me again, sorry I do not think the link for my own entry this week was attached.

Amazing shot, but does the shoe fit? Come and share your post with us at ES #45 #WordlessWednesday
and check out my different entry this week Pin Prick Embroidery
I guess we’ll never find out. Thanks Esme.
Now you have me wondering, Hugh. Is his shoe in the sea? LOL Cher xoxoxo
That’s what the statue seems to think, Cher. He’s certainly looking out towards the sea, but it’s much closer to home.
Ah, very intriguing, Hugh!!
Sure, the shoe is seen but it’s not made of metal😃
Such a lovely back view, I wish I had seen its face😃
A great click, Hugh!
Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t think I took a picture of his face. I’ll have to look. I seem to recall that he was smiling.
Thank you, Hugh.
That’s incredible! Thank you for sharing.
I thought so, too. I never found out who created it, but it was certainly worth a photo opportunity.
that is definitely an intriguing photo Hugh! X
I’d never seen anything like this piece of art on a beachfront before, Carol Anne. It took me somewhat by surprise.
