Thursday Doors is a photography challenge hosted by Dan Antion, who blogs at No Facilities.
The whole Thursday Doors thing is about sharing pictures of doors that catch your eye. Loads of bloggers get involved each week and give a shout-out to Dan’s post. Dan also encourages everyone to check out each other’s door pictures and drop a comment.
I’ve participated in Thursday Doors in the past. It’s great fun, and although there is no pressure to participate every week, you’ll find Dan has built up a great Thursday Doors community.
Here’s my second entry for 2024.
What do you think? I wonder if this door is the opening into the sandcastle. But what do those strange symbols on the door mean? Maybe they say, ‘Do not enter.’ Or, worse, they could invite danger, saying, ‘Come on in.’ Would you step through?
Check out this week’s Thursday Doors over on Dan’s Blog.
Thanks to Dan for hosting Thursday Doors.
Check out my other Thursday door posts.

Love the whole vibe this one gives off!
Thank you.
The door itself looks sinister, while the cute painted images around it do not. At trick? I probably would not enter it🤣
The door has certainly seen better days. Perhaps it could do with a paint job?
Love the little sandcastle. Would not enter
Thank you.
Often when I’m on holiday, I take photographs of ornate and interesting doors on old buildings, wondering about the stories those doors could tell or the secrets they hold.
Just think of all those who have walked through those doors, Kevin. But I think the person who first walked through that door would be the most interesting. Who were they, and what happened to them after walking through?
I guess sandcastles can have open doors, right?
I’m sure you’re right. But would you walk through?
Probably could not fit! 🤣
Well this is a case of where brilliant minds think a like. I just made a post about songs with door in the title. I think it would be like Alice in Wonderland to enter a door leading into a sandcastle,
I agree. Thursday Doors is a popular photography challenge that has been going on since I started blogging (over 10 years ago). There is also a band called The Doors.
Sandcastles would be kind of scary to actually live in! 40 is probably how many minutes the sand will be able to withstand the sea!
I agree. I hate the feel of sand on my skin.
What an interesting photo. I doubt the door leads anywhere, but yes, I’d open it and poke my head in. Interesting symbols. Would love to know what they mean.
So would I, Jan. I hope to walk past this door again soon—hopefully when it’s open next time I pass.
The first photo is an interesting photo Hugh. I like the colors. I see what appears to be a 4 on the door. Maybe it symbolizes someone’s 40th birthday party in secret code? Or maybe it’s more sinister and warns the one who enters that they have 40 seconds until something scary happens (cue eerie music.) :-)
The second photo is pretty. It looks like a nice place to rest.
I like your sinister theory, Lea. But even 40th birthdays can be scary,
The second photo isn’t mine. It belongs to Dan, who hosts this challenge. It is the featured ‘Thursday Doors’ image for the challenge. It was created by someone in the Thursday Doors community.
I think those symbols are menacing – I’m getting ‘enter at your peril’ vibes!
Same here, Esther. I still haven’t worked out what they are or saying.
Hmm, the sandcastle door. Lovely and exciting thought!
But would you go through it, Erika?
If someone walks before me… maybe… 😅
I’d step in the sandcastle, Hugh. The other door…? Let’s just say I like the fact that it opens outward. Maybe I can get a look around while I can still run.
I’d have loved to have found out what was behind that door, but those symbols on the door put me off, Dan.
