What Can You See In The Dark? #WordlessWednesday #Photography

Wordless Wednesday – No words, just pictures. Allow your photo(s) to tell the story.

Photo taken at night from a garden of a building that has lights on in some of the rooms. The lights give an orange glow. There is also one bright, white security light shining.

    1. You’re right about it being a garden. Although it was quite a large garden, with so much more behind where I took the photo. I believe there is a team of gardeners who tend to the gardens all year long. It keeps them very busy.

I’m glad you like the shot as much as I did. Mixing darkness with light always brings out great effects.

      1. Absolutely! It sounds like a captivating and expansive garden!
The dedication of a team of gardeners working year-round must contribute to its beauty.
Your skill in capturing the interplay of light and darkness in the photograph is commendable; congratulations!
It indeed adds a touch of magic and intrigue to the scene.
Gardens have a unique charm in different lights, and your ability to convey that through your photography is truly impressive.
        Thank you, Hugh.

        1. Given the size of the garden and there being no other buildings or lighting for miles, I think it has to be strong. It certainly packed a punch.

    1. There was a mist in the air the night I took the photo, so it felt ghostly, Cathy. And the building where the lights were coming from is very old, so I expect a few ghosts walk the corridors (and the gardens).

  1. Very atmospheric. I like the halo effect from the spotlight, and the light that just catched the edges of the shrubs and topiary.

    1. It was the bright, white security light that gave that halo effect, Eileen. Made all the more better by there being no light pollution. There was just enough light to highlight some of the objects in the garden. The photo was taken in Dolgellau, North Wales.

        1. It’s beautiful. Very quiet and off the beaten track, but if you’re looking for some peace and quiet to recharge the batteries, it’s a great place to visit.

  2. An interesting night shot, Hugh. The windows glow with a warm light but I can barely make out the objects in the shadows. Something is lurking in the foreground. At first I thought a headstone. Do tell 😀

    1. That’s a circular pond sounded by some small hedges to look like a maze, Terri. There are also some big stone bowls sat on pillars. You can also just make out two garden benches each side of the photo. The garden took on a completely different look during the night to that of the daytime. No headstones, though.

  3. I like the way there is an arc around the bright white light filling the area with a chilled light in contrast to the warmth of the yellow lights from the window. I love the contrasts caused by the different lights and shadows 💜

    1. Yes, light and shadows are interesting subjects, especially at nighttime, Willow. They can be eerie, or beautiful, or both. This photo was taken with no light pollution from other sources either.
