  1. Our home will be ready in a day, as I hope to get all done tomorrow.
Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your links with us at #WW #6. See you again on Wednesday.

  2. We put up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving in the US. I love the Christmas spirit and have several nostalgic decorations that bring fond memories of ago. We have an artificial tree because our cat will nibble on a real tree.

    1. I much rather the traditional Christmas decorations we’ve had for many years as they bring back so many happy memories.

I thought that was the case of putting up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving in the USA.

  3. As my birthday is 30th November I forbid Christmas until after I have enjoyed my annual me time! So only in December do we unbox Christmas and hang her up again.

  4. Too early for me, but not by much. Possibly this weekend but no later than next. But you’re right in your comment to Terri, when I was growing up it was December before we talked about Christmas, and it made the anticipation much greater and more exciting. And of course Easter starts on about Jan 7th when Cadbury’s creme eggs come into stock!

    1. Paul, I was gobsmacked when I saw Cadbury’s Creme Eggs on sale in our local Post Office shop this week. Thankfully, they were nowhere near the Christmas aisle.

  5. It is definitely ready! We put the Christmas lights outside on the weekend when even it is not even half of what we used to do when the kids were little.

      1. Uhmm… still a few ones (a reindeer, a sleigh, a big star on the upper wall of the house, an illuminated tree, and a garland of lights on the patio… and a star in the kitchen window). So, still a few things. No imagine that this is not even half of what we used to put outside… lol

        1. Wow! I’d love to see my pictures of the lights you used to have up, Erika. But the ones you already have up sound beautiful. Now it’s officially December, I’ve just started putting up Christmas decorations. Oh, and there’s the chocolate advent calendar. Window number one is already open.

  6. Yup, our tree is up and decorated and hubby has all the outside lights up. They look fabulous! I think any time after November 11th is fair game.

      1. That’s an interesting perspective and I understand if it is about getting presents for friends and family. But I don’t think eating sugar filled Christmas cookies/chocolates for 4 straight months, which is what I see most of in the supermarkets here, is a good idea 😬.

        1. That’s true, but for those who can not afford to buy items for Christmas in a short period of time, having them on display to buy over a longer period of time does help. I know somebody who tried saving money for Christmas goods, but she ended up either not saving enough, or not saving at all. Buying a little every week helped.

        2. This is why I love our blogging community – we get so many insights about things from each other. Thanks for sharing Hugh 🙂.

  7. It’s too early for me, and especially as we have a small 4-room basement suite I only do decorations mid-December, BUT the cold and snow that’s starting to show up does put us in the Christmas spirit.

    1. We’re having a festive cold snap in the U.K too, Esme. It certainly helps put you in a festive mood and I love walking in it at first light. I also call it ‘hot chocolate’ weather.

  8. Too early? Whaaaat? Our Thanksgiving was “early” this year. In the US, Christmas decorations and trees are fair game the minute turkey becomes leftovers 🤣 Most of my interior decorations are up. I have 3 small Christmas trees this year! And we put up lighted deer in the front yard yesterday.

The house in the picture has a couple of lights. Hmm, it needs more! Well, the season is here so enjoy every moment, Hugh! 🎄

    1. When I saw Santa Claus at the end of the Macy’s parade one Thanksgiving, Terri, I knew that in North America, that was the signal for the festive season to begin.

Because we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the UK, there has always been a big debate as to when the right time is to put up Christmas decorations. Way back in the 1970s (when I was growing up), Christmas wasn’t even mentioned until at least December 1st, and nobody had decorations up until at least two weekends before Christmas. Not even the shops had anything Christmas themed until at least December arrived. But as time has gone on, it gets earlier and earlier as to when Christmas decorations go up. My niece put up her tree on November 12th this year! And one year, the tree went up in her apartment on November 1st. There were a lot or rows about it. But I love the debate around the question ‘When is the right time to put up Christmas decorations.’

      1. We all know the Christmas holidays encroach ever closer into November. When I was a kid in the 60s, no one put up the tree until about 2 weeks before Christmas. I blame Hallmark and the media 🤣 for getting us into the Christmas spirit so early. I’ve heard black Friday hype has reached Europe and the UK. For me it’s all fun. Perhaps we should all get Christmas spirit a little early. I’m glad your niece enjoys early festive decor!

        1. Yes, it was Amazon who introduced Black Friday to the UK in 2010, Terri. Now we also have Cyber Monday which is the Monday after Black Friday. Not sure if that’s a thing in North America. The problem with Black Friday is that those deals are not always what they seem, but consumers fall for them.
When I worked in retail (back in the 1980), the winter sales never began until the day after Boxing Day. Now they seem to start in November. Great for doing your Christmas shopping; not good if you’re in the crowds. That’s why I do 99% of my shopping online.

        2. Cyber Monday has been my friend over the years, Hugh. My first purchase for Cyber Monday was a flat screen TV from Costco in 2006. Sadly, I spend more time deleting these types of emails for weeks.

        3. Yes, Black Friday emails and deals seem to start in October now. And Cyber Monday lasts until at least Cyber Saturday (is there such a thing?) the same week.
Glad you picked up a bargain, though, Terri. I’m waiting for the winter sales to start – due to start in a few weeks time.

      1. Just a bit – we usually decorate at the end of the first week in December, although I supposed it doesn’t matter since we now have an artificial tree (which we swore we never would!) so no dropping needles.

        1. Yes, once December arrives, I don’t mind when the tree goes up. We have an artificial tree too, although in the past we have had real trees that were potted and then planted in the garden after Christmas. They grow very quickly once outside.

  9. Far too early for me. It’s nice to see the lights, but I don’t tend to put up my tree/decorations until the weekend before Christmas- unless my husband puts up the tree when I’m out

      1. Unlikely this year as his mum is back in hospital, so he’s staying down to be beside her … visit etc. But hopefully he’ll get home for Christmas. I just let him get on with it. No point in stressing about it.
