I say the gate is keeping us locked out from the world of the fairies. Perhaps for a good reason. Fairies are not humans and they go by different rules.
That’s great information about the world of fairies. I can understand why they wouldn’t want anything to do with humans at the moment.
It’s like an Invitation to see a new world.
Yes, the other side of that gate could almost be a new planet waiting for new guests.
Intriguing photo. Gates entice one to enter or clearly state to keep out.
Exactly. But which one for this gate?
It’s interesting that the daisies are only on one side of the gate, when presumably there’s nothing keeping them from growing on the other side as well!
Flowers don’t care either way. A fabulous gate and photo Hugh 😀
Thanks, Brian.
“Did we domesticate wheat or the wheat domesticated us?”- a thought-provoking statement in the book Sapiens 🙂.

I do like thought-provoking comments and images.
Thanks for your link.
Thanks very much Hugh 🙂🙂
This is such a gorgeous photo Hugh! I love the juxtaposition of those heavy stone walls with the beautiful, ornate gate.
Thank you, Terri. I’m not sure why the gate was put there. That’s why I asked the question in the title of this post. But I agree, that it is quite a spectacular view.
I think it’s there to protect the flowers around it, otherwise we would either tread over them or simply not give them chance to grow.
We humans can do so much damage, Paul. I think you’re right.
Ha, good question. When we went to Laguna Beach this year, we visited the gallery of Vladimir Kush, an amazing artist. One of his paintings shows a bird behind a barred window and a man watching him. But it was not clear who was in the cage. The painting could have exactly the title of this prompt.
That’s interesting, Erika. I love pictures that give those sorts of illusions. They have you pondering for ages.
You need to check him out over the net. His artwork is mindblowing!! https://kushfineart.com/
I don’t know – but the daisies are smiling in your direction!
Are they trying to lure me out, though?
No- they’re saying it’s okay to stay inside and play.
That’s what I thought, too.
The gate serves as a barrier to prevent us from entering, but its purpose is not malicious. It simply protects something on the other side from us. Perhaps I am being too imaginative, but if I had the chance to experience the gate in person, my opinion may differ as it appears quite lovely!
Thank you, but I think what you say is true. After all, we humans can do so much damage.
Either way, Hugh, it’s a win. Nice pic! Have a great week, we’re on the road!
Thanks, Terri. Hope the trip goes well. Enjoy it. See you when you get back.
What a beautiful gate!
Thank you.
You’re welcome, Hugh.
As one looks through the gate, it appears as if there is some sort of meadow. Perhaps for livestock. Maybe the gate is to keep the livestock in? A total guess here!
That’s a good guess, but I was more concerned that it was locked as protection from whatever was on the other side.
It looked too ornamental for me to be protection. But what do I know!
Of course, I could be wrong.
I’d like to think that gate is open with all the beauty on the other side!
It was locked, with no way of unlocking it. Whatever it was protecting us from, worked.
Dang!
Or an invitation to explore something special
There was no way of opening this gate. It had no lock or handle. Either it was keeping us in or keeping us safe from whatever was on the other side.
Oh that would intrigue me more. I’d definitely want to know what’s on the other side
You’d have to go on your own, Brenda. I’m staying behind that gate.
Thats OK. Guess that’s the curiosity in me 😁😆
