Oh, no! Poor Santa needs to go on a diet! That is an adorable Christmas ornament, Hugh.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I’m glad you like it, Eugi. It’s one of my favourites.

  2. Urspo avatar

Dear me what a story this one could tell !

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Indeed. I’d love to hear some stories about it.

  3. Liesbet @ Roaming About avatar

Ooops! Did you have fun dressing the Christmas tree, Hugh? Love the new – temporary – header of your website as well. I see that someone is truly in the holiday spirit! You are one special human! :)

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

My partner always dresses the tree, Liesbet. However, I build the tree and help with putting on the lights. He always does a great job. I may rearrange some of the ornaments when he’s out of the room. He never notices.

I hope nobody starts a fire in their fireplace!

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Exactly. As a child, it never occurred to me that there was a fire at the bottom of our chimney pot and that Santa could get hurt entering the house that way.

  5. junedesilva avatar

I would check my wine glass, Hugh!

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Great answer, June. I love it.

Great idea to donate ones that aren’t used any longer, Hugh! Your ornament is beautiful and I’m certain Santa has his brand of magic to always be able to leave the gifts. Have a beautiful Christmas 🎄

OMG Santa , should have gone to Specsavers! Love it Hugh! 💜💜💜

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Indeed, Willow. But can you imagine how often he’d have to clean his spectacles?

      1. willowdot21 avatar

He’d have to have a special deal on lens cleaner fluid 😄😄😄

  9. Erika avatar

Yay, I love this one. Is it the new ornament for this year?

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

No, I’ve had this ornament for about ten years, Erika. I got it at a famous department store in London.

      1. Erika avatar

You mean the big one, beginning with an “H”?

        1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

          That’s the one 😀

That is an awesome and amusing ornament, I only had the urge to climb into a chimney once in my life. I was 8 years old and my dad took me to see the movie “Mary Poppins”. When I saw all those chimney sweeps popping out of chimneys and dancing on the roof it did look like a whole lot of fun. Luckily we lived in an apartment house so my mom did not have to worry about me actually trying to get into a chimney.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

That’s a cute story. As a child, I remember looking up the chimney to see any signs of Santa. My father sometimes would leave bits of cotton wool at the bottom to convince me that Santa had been there. When the chimney sweep came to clean the chimney, I was always afraid that his brush would dislodge Santa. I used to believe he lived up the chimney.

What a gorgeous Christmas tree ornament. I ‘need’ some new ones and this has inspired me. Thank you, Hugh. Happy Christmas 🎄

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I’m glad you like it, Esther. I’ve had this one for about 10 years. I hope you find some good ones, especially in the winter sales.
      Happy Christmas. 🎄

  12. Terri Webster Schrandt avatar

Um, I’ll let the professional handle this one, Hugh 🤣 Is this ornament from the Old World European shop? There’s one here in Spokane that’s open 2 months out of the year. My SIL took me there a few weeks ago. You would love it! These types of hand made glass ornaments are everywhere. You can walk in, grab a box and select what you want to buy. I believe they’re handmade in Germany.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and joyful holiday, Hugh! ✨️🎄🎅

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I picked this ornament up online from a very well-known store here in the UK, Terri. It’s about 10 years old. I’ve been instructed not to buy more Christmas decorations because we’ve run out of storage space. However, I donated many Christmas ornaments to a local charity shop last week so they could bring pleasure to the new owners and raise some money for good causes. Now, I’ve more room to fill in those Christmas storage cupboards. And the Christmas sales have already started.

Merry Christmas to you and the family, Terri. I hope nobody gets stuck on the roof on Christmas Eve.

That’s a very good question, Hugh! I’m not sure what I’d do. Do I interrupt Santa, or do I help him? Or, is that the REAL Santa? I’m afraid I’ve only made matters worse with all of my questions, Hugh! LOL

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

If you hear someone calling for help, you should help him, but be careful when climbing the roof. I think it is better to call the Fire Department, Cher. Don’t be getting any broken bones for Christmas.

  14. AM avatar

    😂 poor Santa!

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I know, right? It must be all those treats people leave him.

  15. noelleg44 avatar

I would call the fire department to help pull Santa out of the chimney. We watched Red One last night – it was a funny spoof!

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I haven’t seen that movie yet, but I hope to during the holidays. I also watched a great film called Single All The Way, which was very funny. I watched it twice because I enjoyed it so much.

I hope Santa does not get stuck, but given all the treats left out for him, I think somebody will likely call the fire department.

      1. noelleg44 avatar

I’ll have to look for that movie!

        1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I hope you laugh as much as I did when you watch it.
