Wordless Wednesday – No words, just pictures. Allow your photo(s) to tell the story.

Photo taken during the night of a house, trees, shadows and stars in the night sky.

    A lovely picture, Hugh

Thanks, Robbie. Can you expand on why you think it’s lovely? It helps with future posts.

      1. robbiesinspiration avatar

Because of the contrasts. I knew you would ask 😂

        1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Thank you. Yes, feedback is so important. The more the better. It helps us in future posts knowing what readers say and want. The more feedback the more help it is to us.

I love wordless wednesday. I don’t always comment but I always look. 🤣😎🙃

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Thank you. And there’s nothing wrong in not leaving a comment. We should only comment when we have something of value to add.

  3. Eugi avatar

Whoa! Very eerie and Halloweeny. The shadows seem to be dancing in the moonlight. Excellent shot, Hugh.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

They were doing that, with a little help from the wind, Eugi.

I see the shadows of people having a party, Hugh! Raising glasses, and having a brilliant time! Cher xoxoxo

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

How wonderful, Cher. Even in eerie photos, there is always some fun going on somewhere. Cheers.

LOL Thank you, Hugh! I agree! What a great question to pose to us! It definitely helped me stretch my imagination! Cher xoxoxo

I see lots of faces and that green man and the UFO or as they want us to call them now UAP’s, but will it catch on? Great tree shadows evoking a eerie atmosphere :)

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Thank you. I’ve never heard the term UAP’s. I don’t think it’s catching on. Not yet, anyway. But glad you spotted the UFO and green man.

      1. bushboy avatar

It will take generations before UFO disappears from the language

  6. Janis @ RetirementallyChallenged.com avatar

I love how an everyday scene can change to an eerie one at night. The surrounding darkness and cast shadows are creepy enough… throw in a UFO and I’m about ready to head back for home.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

You’re right, Janis. The scene in this photo is so different during the day. The shadows of the trees cast by sunlight do not look as eerie as the the ones casted by the moonlight.

You mean besides the blue lens flare?
My entry here with day light 😉:

    The Alhambra

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I don’t see a blue flare, but, yes, what other nighttime objects can you see?

      1. PR avatar

The dot beside the cloud – that’s the lens flare as per my understanding, due to the bright moon on the right hand side. I have so many pictures spoilt by those that now I can spot them immediately.

        1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Other people have told me that those are spheres. I’ve read some interesting stuff about them. The moon was very bright that night, but you could still see the stars.

Great and awesome nighttime capture, love the spookiness of the of the shadows playing around.
My entry this week: Do you believe in fairies, Faeries, Elves and Goblins?
    https://esmesalon.com/do-you-believe-in-fairies/

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Those shadows from the moonlight sure do give the photo a touch of eeriness.
Thanks for your link, Esme. Yes, I do believe in fairies. And I do believe in elves too. I’ve seen them work for Father Christmas.

Love your images, well done and I am happy to hear that you have do believe in faires and seen them at work. :)

        1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

I’ve never seen fairies at work, but I have seen elves at work.

Awww never seen the fairies, you should go hunt them down and try and catch them at work.

  10. Terri Webster Schrandt avatar

I love how the lens captures otherworldly things, Hugh! The creepy tree shadows on the building were great but the lens flare showing us the UFO and the green man waving (I saw it too) capped it off perfectly! I’m sure the sound of the dry leaves added to the thrill. Thanks for linking this with Sunday Stills this week :)

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Glad you saw the little green man and UFO, Terri.

These types of photos are fun to explore with the light creating plenty of stuff you have to really check twice.

It was the shadows of the trees on the side of the house that I was trying to get. Then I noticed the full moon, but that did not come out as well as some of the other elements of the photo.

I was also amazed that I captures some stars. Given the millions of miles they are away, they must be the furthest things I’ve ever captured on photo.

  11. noelleg44 avatar

The shadows are spooky! My night-time vision is so bad that I’m glad you captured this for me!

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

The moonlight helped that night. It helps cast the nighttime shadows which give everything an eerie feel.

  12. Cathy avatar

The shadows are brilliant, very atmospheric.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Yes, nighttime photos with moonlight and shadows can be very atmospheric, Cathy. It was windy that night too, so the sound of the wind through the branches helped.

  13. Liesbet @ Roaming About avatar

A full moon or a strong light? Seems a tad bright and “beamy” for the moon. Maybe a UFO?

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

That bright object is the moon, Liesbet. I took this photo on my iPhone 14. There is a UFO with a little green man waving in the pic, though. Well, I think there is anyway.

      1. Liesbet @ Roaming About avatar

        :-) That’s what I thought, too.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

      Thank you. You too.

  14. Carol anne avatar

    Nice shot Hugh! :-)

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

      Thank you, Carol anne.

  15. Sunra Rainz avatar

Love the shadows and form in this, Hugh.

    1. Hugh W. Roberts avatar

Yes, those shadows of the trees were rather eerie on the side of the house, Sunra. they certainly added atmosphere to the photo.
