The Hunger Game – by Hugh W. Roberts

It was the light in her eyes that lit up my life.

As she gently dragged her long fingernail over my adam’s apple to the hair on my chest, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I’d undone the buttons for temptation, and it worked.

I wasn’t shocked when she hissed, as the light in her, fed our desires. I gasped when she revealed two fanged teeth behind the bright red lips of her closed mouth, even though I knew what to expect.

She never saw the wooden stake I was holding.

Now I could feast.

        1. Our pumpkin growing was a disaster this year, Colleen. None of the flowers turned to fruit. It’s the first year we’ve not had any pumpkins to carve.

        2. We had a lot of bees this year, and for the first time in quite a few years, we saw lots more butterflies as well. It may well have been the heat, although the heatwaves we experienced only lasted a few days in Swansea.

  1. A little vampire with my morning coffee, Hugh, very well done! The Hunger Games with the “s” is really an excellent series if you ever get the itch. The movie of the first book of the same name follows the book very closely if you want to stream it. Happy Friday!

  2. Horror first thing in the morning… Hmmm. When I saw your title, I thought, “What a coincidence, I just watched one of The Hungrer Games movies last night.” But this kind of hunger was a bit different.

    1. The spelling and grammar software I use kept telling me to add an ‘S’ to Game, Liesbet. I’ve never seen the movies, but I know of them.
      Glad both are different.

        1. Thank you for the recommendation, Liesbet. I’ve seen the movies advertised on TV, but I never got around to watching them for whatever reason. Next time they’re on, I’ll take a look.
