Musophobia – by Hugh W. Roberts
They weren’t alive, but how had they got here?
Suffering from musophobia, Barbara made a quick exit from the beach that was full of mice.
Turning on the radio when she got home, she waited patiently for the early morning news.
“Reports are coming in of a ship having hit rocks off the coast of North Cornwall during last nights storms. Hundreds of freight boxes containing computer mice have broken up and ended up on the beaches along the coastline…”
Just the sight, thought, or the mere mention of the word ‘mice’ was as much as Barbara could take.

Love how you’ve built in the two previous prompts too.
Having only just returned the Ranch, I remember last week’s prompt, but can’t remember the previous weeks.
Thanks, Anne.
Must have filtered through unconsciously. Good to see you back here.
Thank you, Anne.
Well done and too cute! 🙂 x
Me or the mice?
Both! 🙂 x
Ha, ha! What a great twist Hugh! And yes, I can comiserate that even the suggestion of a mouse of triggering enough.
I very much thought out of the box with this one, Charli. At first, I was stuck. Then I saw the computer mouse on my desk and thought ‘now there’s an idea.’
Always with the nifty twist!
Thank you. One day, I will fool you all and not add a twist.
Hahaha, Hugh, a good one! Very clever!
Thank you, Terri. This is one of my favourites.
Great twist Hugh, I love your creativity!
Thanks, Debbie. Mice are mice, after all, aren’t they?
Brilliant. Didn’t see that coming. Again. 🙂
Good to hear. My thoughts were ‘out of the box’ for this one.
Hehe, too funny!
Thank you.
You are welcome, Hugh!!
Good thing she ran before getting run over by bus lines…
Or find any chips or spam on that beach…
I forgot about Spam.
Just as well to forget about spam. Lucily, it usually ends up in the right place anyway.
‘Tis dangerous on that there North Cornwall coast… mind you, a spilled cargo bounty wouldn’t last long, plenty of old caves and hidey holes (suitable for large mice or large amounts of mice) from the old smuggling days.
I bet there’s still a lot of hidden treasure in those caves.
*Taps nose and winks*
Couldn’t say m’boy…
Great picture, makes mice look cute, but…Ugh! I’d have been off that beach so fast 🙂
With musophobia, I’m not surprised. For me, it’s snakes. Ugh! I can’t even eat the jelly ones sold as candy.
Yep, snakes too. Nightmare inducing!
LOL – Nice one, Hugh 👍😂
Thanks, Chris. I went a ‘bit out of the box’ for this one.
G.R.O.A.N. 😂
Computer mice! Nice twist!
Thank you, Robert.
