Did You Miss Any Of These? Monthly Round-Up – March 2025

I only published four posts (including this one) this month, compared to eleven in March 2024. Yet, compared to March 2024, my blog only got around 100 fewer views.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) continues to play a big part in bringing new visitors to my blog, so don’t allow those who say that SEO doesn’t matter to tell you otherwise. SEO is important if you want more visitors and potentially new followers to your blog.

If you have any questions about SEO, leave them in the comments section.

  1. I love your monthly roundup posts, Hugh. One question. Do you use WordPress.com, and if so, how come SEO is part of what you do? I was concerned with SEO when I was self-hosted, but that doesn’t seem to be anything I worry about with .com. I’m off to read that post, just in case.

    1. SEO is essential for any blog, Marsha, but only if you seek more traffic or followers to your blog. For example, blog post titles with keywords are ranked higher by SEOs, such as Google, making it more likely that those posts will attract much more traffic than posts with titles lacking keywords. Some bloggers don’t worry about SEO at all, as they are content with what they already have.

      1. When I had the self-hosted blog, I kept track of SEO with Yeost, which rated everything for me. Now. I don’t have that, so I’m not as aware.

        1. Some bloggers do not worry about SEO. However, to attract more visitors and followers to your blog, checking what words and topics are trending in SEO is beneficial. AI is helpful for this, and Bluesky excels at providing me with updates every 30 minutes on what is trending on their platform. The most important part of a post is the title. Get that right, and SEO will boost your post, resulting in lots of visitors.

        2. Ah, using AI is an idea I hadn’t thought of. I checked the cost of upgrading so I could get Yeost, but that’s quite a jump, and I don’t really need the extra storage space and I don’t sell anything online, so I hate to spend the money needlessly. Thanks for all your tips. :)
