I’m going to buck the trend here and go with a goat. LOL
I don’t think anyone said a goat. Griffin or lion seem to be the popular answers for this one.
I am on team Dragon but if it is Welsh, a Y Ddraig Goch which bears no similarity at all. Then a Griffin with a body, tail and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagle’s talons as the front feet so wipe that thought. Although with the heraldic shield, griffins were known for guarding treasures and priceless possessions.
I believe it is the work a jokester stone mason who is having a laugh or had no idea what the hell they were carving 😂
Thanks for sharing all of that. I think I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a mixture of creatures; one that nobody really knows what it is.
