Meet Hugh

Hello and a very warm welcome to my blog.

My name is Hugh, and I live in the city of Swansea, South Wales, in the United Kingdom. I write about all kinds of everyday life and what it brings to us all. Nothing too serious, most of the time just about the little things in life and how important they can be to all of us. Some of my posts will be humorous, while others may bring a tear to the eye.

I have always enjoyed writing and the fact I suffer from a mild form of dyslexia has not stopped me. Yes, I get things wrong with my reading and writing but I now always find those mistakes humorous and always laugh about it. I no longer allow dyslexia get in my way. Now in my fifties, I thought it about time I let my writing become public. Becoming a blogger seemed to be the perfect way for me to do this. I lead a very happy life and always try to stay positive. John & TobyI share my life with my wonderful Civil Partner John, and our Cardigan Welsh Corgis, Toby and Austin, who I all cherish.

Hello, my name is Austin

I write about life because I find it so fascinating. I have many stories to tell, some of which I have started to put into a book. I think my life has been incredible and I want to share it with anyone that wants to listen. I am also a wonderful listener and I love to be interactive with other people. I guess you could say I am a ‘people person’.IMG_3483

I am interested in photography and my blog now includes some of my photos and work.

You will find some of my short stories, flash fiction, and poetry on my blog and I hope you enjoy reading them. Flash Fiction has become a big part of my writing and I enjoy participating in various writing challenges.

    1. Thank you for taking a look around. I remember when I first started to blog and how I read any blogging tips posts I could find. I’ve learned a lot since coming here (and am still learning), and I do enjoy sharing what I have found out with others. Happy blogging. 😀

  1. Hi Hugh. I found your blog through the Weekly Photo Challenge and immediately recognised your cover photo of Swansea. I grew up in Bishopston and rarely come across other bloggers from that part of the world! My resolution this year was to write more about the wonderful hikes I enjoy on the Gower…although seem to have got a bit bogged down in Italy recently!
    Happy blogging 🙂

    1. Hi Rachel. It’s great to meet you. Thanks for coming over to my blog. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person a handful of other bloggers from Wales. I used to live in Brighton, where there were a lot more bloggers based. I’m still discovering the Swansea and Gower areas but enjoying every moment. It’s a fabulous place.

      1. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it! I’ve been living in London for the past few years and every time I go back to visit family I try to squeeze in some beach time 🙂 One of my favourite things to do is to take a picnic up to Pennard Castle – what a view!

      1. Absolutely. Same here, although the red hair started fading a few years ago. 😀 Can’t stay out in the sun very long either. Being fair skinned, I burn very easily, even with factor 50 suncream on. 🌞
I know Cardiff quite well. It’s had a lot of new development over the last ten years. Now, an even better place to shop, eat and socialize.

      2. :)…the sun is definitely not our friend, living here in South Florida is not easy and as you say even the strongest sun screen does not do the trick. I visited Wales only once…it is beautiful.

      1. I speak to a lot of people who let dyslexia or the fact that English is not their first language stop them. They don’t know that it’s what adds colour to their posts because it’s part of who they are which makes them charmingly unique amongst the rest of us. 🙂
