Love it! Remember doing that in Chicago.
Well Hugh, I work out by walking and made my goal of 1,256 miles/2,022 kilometers last year and then some. But I should do exercises to keep me limber, like yoga. I bought the tape and it sits shrink-wrapped without using it. I did shovel snow, some six inches (15 cms) of it this morning from our snowstorm yesterday. It was wet, heavy snow and I will likely feel the effects tomorrow morning unfortunately.
Here is my Wordless Wednesday contribution – only a few people knew why I used the Muhammad Ali quote:

Shovelling snow is always a good workout, Linda. And if you ache the following morning, it shows the workout did its job.
Unfortunately, there’s no snow for me to shovel. And I’m certainly not a lover of the gym.
Thank you for your link. Always good to see you participating in Wordless Wednesday.
Yes, just like the first day out doing yard cleanup in the Spring. You realize you have muscles you forgot about! You’re welcome Hugh – I like participating, even if its Thursday or Friday by the time I get here. 🙂
Seldom a snow shovel needed here in the south Hugh.
Sadly, the same here now where I live, Robert.
You handsome young pup!
Thank you.
Oh boy, that is quite the workout!
It is. No need for the gym when there is snow about.
Here is my last minute entry and a contrast to your snowy image. https://heavenssunshine.com/warmth-of-maui/
Thank you. And what a contrast it is.
I’ve done plenty of snow shoveling! Never with a smile on my face though!
I rather enjoy it. Seeing snow falling is something that always brings a smile to my face. Moreso now, given that climate change has killed most of the snow off where I live.
That used to be my workout, but it’s been years since we had any significant snow! Now I walk in a lovely, cold rain!
But at least you’re still walking and getting some exercise. I rather enjoy walking in the rain.
It’s not for everyone!
I work out to YouTube videos year round. I also get out for regular walks, unless conditions are icy and dangerous. In the summer, I walk much more outdoors.
Summers are too hot to walk, so I’m glad for winter walks. I’ve been known to dance around the house to YouTube videos.
Great shot of you, Hugh! I believe shoveling snow is one of the best winter workouts to do. Especially if you add the “shovel-squat-toss” movement in one graceful move, LOL! I fear we’ll be back to shoveling this Friday as another arctic snow event lands here and super cold temps into next week. Sigh…
I’m pleased to say that I can shovel snow, Terri. Sadly, we don’t get enough for me to scoop. In days gone by, I remember helping my father to clear paths from all the snow. Those are pleasant memories.
Stay warm when that next winter storm hits. I’m kinda jealous you’re getting all the snow.
I would happily share our snow with anyone who asks!
Oh dear..I am glad I am not faced with that much snow 😀.
My entry is here:

Thank you. My photo was taken 30 years ago. We don’t get that much snow anymore.
That’s such a familiar sight. We had so much snow this past season and been snowed in for a number of days and apparently due to get more soon.

I hear you. Although we’ve had little snow this winter, I hope we get some before spring arrives. My two dogs love the snow.
Oh yesh cleaning the snow – i had a lot practise of this last year. Hopefully, no more this winter. Happy Wednesday
I’m hoping for snow this winter, as we don’t have anywhere as near as much as we used to 20 years ago. Instead, we seem to have mild, wet winters, which I’m not a fan of.
Yes it really used to snow ! I like the first day of snow.
Same here. I’m not keen when it turns to slush, though.
And then when it freezes over an become a sheet of ice. I cant walk on it or drive on it , i find it stressful
Might need to get the shovel back out soon if this storm I’m hearing about arrives
My neighbour mentioned yesterday that February would be a snowy and cold month. As she works for the met office, I think you could be right.
I saw something about another Beast from the East. But I believe we’re currently warmer than you
You are, yes. But I believe we have a week of normal temperatures ahead. This takes us into February…
Brave man 🤣
Not like this! I escape cold and snowy winters. 🙂
Is this a younger you, Hugh?
It is, yes, Liesbet. However, I know I’d still be able to shovel snow, although maybe not as quickly as I could 30 years ago.
Fantastic photo Hugh! Also a great way to work out in the winter.
Yes, I agree that shovelling snow is a great workout, Wayne. Now I just need more snow to shovel.
Haha be careful what you wish for 😜
