Classic Elton! x
He is indeed a classic.
Elton John is coming to Detroit to Tiger Stadium this coming Monday, July 18th. I would like to see him, but COVID worries with the new variant and also crime in Detroit will keep me away. I’m glad you enjoyed the concert in the UK.
I have been participating in Wordless Wednesday continuously every Wednesday since March of 2020. This was my contribution this week. I learned something – the marks on this dead tree were the handiwork of beetles.

I was concerned about Covid when I went to the concert, Linda. But because we were outside, I figured it was better than being indoors watching his show. And I didn’t want to miss what he’s calling his ‘final tour.’ But I also understand your concerns about crime. It’s much better to keep safe.
Thank you for the link to your Wordless Wednesday post. It’s good to see you participating. I publish my Wordless Wednesday post every Wednesday, and it would be good for you to link your post to that post. That way, other participants will also be able to view your post.
Every day this new Covid variant seems to be encroaching more Hugh – the consensus here seems to be that we should just resign ourselves to the fact that we all will get Covid sooner or later.
I have liked Elton John’s music since I first heard “Your Song” back in high school and I listened to it on a transistor radio. 🙂
Thank you for offering to do that with my Wordless Wednesday posts. I will do as you suggest. I like this feature as my Monday posts are picture laden from my nature hikes, so I can use pictures on WW as my favorite highlights, or those shots that need no explanation from my trek.
It’s much the same here, Linda. And it’s just been announced that the over 50’s will be offered a booster vaccine in the autumn. I’ll certainly be taking mine.
Yes, don’t hesitate Hugh. I am 66 and got mine as soon as it was available, but already that #2 booster I had in April is already waning.
One of my favorite artists, Hugh! We grew up with his music!
Indeed we did, Terri. He’s done so much music that I like. And he’s a real showman when on stage.
Great shot!
Thank you.
Wow, that must have been an amazing concert!
It was. My 5th Elton concert. All of them as good as the others.
Lucky you, when was this concert?
It was at the end of June this year, Erika. He had another 100 gigs to do before his final one.
So cool! I see, Corona has stretched the time until his “retirement”.
Although I understand he may have done a farewell tour before, it has. But I know other artists who have done the same.
It is great that he does this one. I think he needs it to make an ending to that big part of his life that makes him feel good about that step.
I love Elton John. My daughter and I saw him on his “first farewell stop” in Toronto in 2018. I blew the bank on the VIP package, bought the farewell tour t-shirt, and said my good-byes. The next day, he announced two more Toronto dates for 2019. Feeling very cheated, I decided not to get tickets.
Sadly, he had to postpone one of the 2019 dates due to a death in David’s family, so he added another date for March 2020. I decided to get tickets for that show. Well, we all know what happened in March 2020. The show was postponed, then rescheduled for February of this year, then outright cancelled. He is coming back to Toronto in September but my daughter who I was going with will be away in Australia. So it looks like September, 2019 was my farewell after all.
I have seen him in concert 6 times – 5 with his band and once with just him and his piano. All were amazing. He is a true entertainer.
I’ve known a few artists do farewell tours for them to only come back with ‘come back tours, Michelle.
After seeing Elton’s Farewell To The Yellowbrick Road’ concert a couple of weeks ago, I don’t think he will make a return to touring. His mobility on stage was not good, and I hear he wants to spend much more time with his family.
I’ve seen him in concert about 5 times (including in Las Vegas), and all the shows were excellent. He’s a real showman.
Ha ha. I saw The Who in Toronto a few years ago, about 25 years after their “farewell tour”.
I’m glad I saw Elton on his first farewell trip through Toronto. He has earned his retirement. I look forward to seeing what kind of collaborations he gets involved in, because I am pretty sure he won’t stop making music.
I agree. Michelle. I’m sure we’ll continue to hear lots more music from him.
Love Elton’s music

I do hope you enjoyed the concert Hugh. A picture paints a thousand words! 💜💜
It was brilliant, Willow. Although he does seem to have lost some of his mobility. He seemed to struggle to get around on stage. That is probably why this is his final tour, although I know he also wants to spend more time with his family.
Well these guys are aging just like us. And most of them can hardly sing anymore. All credit to Elton, the Stones, and the Quo they still give us a great show 💜💜💜
Loved seeing him in concert!
I’ve seen him about 5 times in concert, and he’s a great showman.
