10 Blog Posts You May Have Missed In 2021 That Got People Talking

What were the top 10 blog posts on Hugh’s Views And News in 2021? Unfortunately, none of my posts made the top 10 because there is no guaranteed way to produce an accurate top 10 list based on the number of likes, hits or comments.

Not sure what I’m referring to? My blog post, ‘How Do You Measure The Success Of Your Blog Posts?‘ has all the answers, plus it has a great way of producing a top 10 list based on something far more reliable than dodgy likes, hits and comments.

Did you miss any of these?

In 2021, 133 blog posts got published on Hugh’s Views And News. Many subjects, including blogging tips, writing, music, flash fiction, photography, true stories, social media tips and guest posts, made it to the front page.

If you asked me to recommend ten of those posts, I’d have a tough choice to make. But as I already hinted, many readers agreed that basing top 10 lists based on the number of likes, hits or comments doesn’t always work.

That’s why I’m offering you ten blog posts published in 2021 on Hugh’s Views And News that I recommend. They are not in any particular order other than the published date they appeared on my blog.

Published January 1st 2021.

  1. I totally agree with your thoughts on likes, views etc when looking at what was successful or not during the year Hugh. I like the idea of what posts got people talking and what you’d like to recommend to readers and might have a look back at some of my posts to remind myself of what I’ve written that I would recommend. It was interesting to read some of the posts that I had missed or to re-read them from your lists. Thanks again for all you do to enlighten us 🙂

    1. You’re welcome, Debbie.

It was strange, but I only saw one blogger who based the success of his posts on the number of likes they got in the reviews of last year that I read. Everyone else based their successes on recommendations. I think my post must have hit a nerve.

  2. You have been busy in 2021, Hugh! 133 blog posts… that’s a lot of creating and engaging! You did a fabulous job making the description of these ten posts enticing. I’m sure I read most of them, but you have me click on a few once again, just to make sure! By the way, how did you decide to select these ten??

    1. 133 blog posts seem a lot, but when I look at how many blog posts other bloggers published, I really don’t know how they do it, Liesbet. I think I’ve found my perfect balance, though – 2 to 3 posts a week.

I’m glad the descriptions enticed you to check out some of the posts again. I always enjoy writing excerpts and always ask myself ‘what would make me want to click to read more…’ when I write them.

As for how I picked these 10 posts, I had a look at the types of comments that were left. If they showed signs of me giving out information that some people had never heard about before, that was one factor. Another factor (for the posts containing blogging tips) was the information I thought was critical to bloggers – ‘Must read’ posts.

As for the two pieces of flash fiction, ‘Edge of Summer’ because it was the birth of two new characters who went on to feature heavily on my blog and who I believe is behind one of my older posts going viral last year. Nightmare in Spring because I believe it to be the best twist I’d written last year.

    1. I hope you find the information in them helpful, Debbie. Out of all my posts, these are the 10 posts I’d recommend anyone to read because I think they contain such vital information or (for the two flash fiction pieces) are my best bits of fiction.

  3. It’s always great to visit your blog Hugh, as I always, and I mean, ALWAYS find some new and extremely useful tidbits and information and help from your posts.
Thank you for always sharing your posts at #SeniorSalonPitStop and I hope to see you often in 2022. I have shared this post on SM

    1. I’m glad to be of some help, Esmé. I’m aiming to give out lots of information and ‘How to’ posts over the coming year to help many readers. My mission this year is to say that I’ve been able to help at least one person every day.

  4. I love your twist stories … your devilish sense of humor always brings a smile to my face. I didn’t pay a lot of attention to my stats this year but now you’ve got me curious!

    1. I’m glad you enjoy all those twists I put into my stories and that they come over as ‘devilish humour.’ Them bringing a smile to your face is an added bonus for me.
      Thanks, Jan.

  5. Willow already said what I was thinking instantly. Also, I am looking forward to more tips and advice from our blogmaster. Happy New Year, Hugh!

  6. Brilliant advice and tips, Hugh. I’ve dipped in and out of blogging since 2013 but have done more last year. So, it’s always handy to read a new tip I hadn’t come across before. KL ❤️
