Dan, over at No Facilities, has taken over hosting Thursday Doors.
If you’re not sure what Thursday Doors is, Dan explains more on his blog post. Basically, it’s a photography challenge centred around (yes, you’ve guessed it) ‘Doors!’
The challenge is open to everyone to participate in. So, why not join in and meet lots of other bloggers?
Here’s my entry for this week.
What do you think? Is the figure in the glass trying to get out or get in? And don’t you think it strange that the door handle is pushed down, yet there is no signs of any hands on it?

A big thank you to Norm Frampton who created Thursday Doors and ran the challenge for its first six years. And thanks to Dan for being our new host.

Lovely shot, Hugh! I wonder who the ghost is? And, if there’s another one fumbling with the door handle. I love the twist to this photo. 🙂
They may be two more spirits, Liesbet. The spirits of Hugh’s past, present and future.
P.S – I never saw the reflection until choosing this photo for the challenge.
It’s difficult to tell which parts are reflection and which not, Hugh. Perhaps someone is standing behind the wall, holding the handle down.
You could be right, Norah. Nobody came out of the door after I took the photo. However, maybe they were waiting for me to disappear. It’s a festive mystery that remains unsolved.
A story waiting to be told.
I’m quite sure it’s the ghost of Christmas past, Hugh. 🙂
janet
Unfortunately, by the time I opened the door, he’d gone, Janet. But I think you’re right.
Just beautiful, Hugh!
Thank you so much, Jennie.
You’re welcome, Hugh.
I didn’t even notice the handle was pushed own, Hugh – so much for my powers of observation 🙂
I didn’t notice it either, Mary, until I chose this photo for this week’s Thursday Doors challenge. I like it when my photography reveals stuff I wasn’t expecting when I took the photo.
A door fit for the season! The spirit is timely too no? I think it might be Christmas Present and the handle being in a downward position is telling…just pull and the spirit can get out. 😀
My brother lives in Wales and is now a citizen of the UK! He and his family are in Cardiff…not too terribly far from you me thinks.
That’s a great explanation about the door handle being in the down position, Deborah.
Cardiff is only about a 50-minute drive from Swansea. I don’t know if you’ve had the chance to visit your brother in Cardiff yet, but it’s a wonderful city to explore.
That’s a beautiful, festive door Hugh!
Best wishes to you, your partner and two gorgeous dogs for the festive season.
Dina
Thank you, Dina. I rather like door-wreaths. And there seem to be so many different types of them these days.
Seasons Greetings to you and your family. 🎄
Very festive Hugh – best wishes to you, your partner and pooches for the holiday season.
Thank you, Linda. And the same to you.
Seasons Greetings to you.
Thank you Hugh.
Beautiful Christmas door.
And spooky, I think the spirit we through the glass wants to come out. See? the door handle is pushed down already.
Great shot!
Thank you, Patricia. Yes, I think you’re right. Thank goodness I haven’t seen that spirit since taking the photo.
Ha ha 🙂
A great door picture, Hugh. I love the figure in the glass.
Thanks, Robbie. I won’t tell the figure in the glass what you said because you’ll have him blushing.
That’s a very festive door, Hugh. Well, it was until you added the question about the door handle and the image…now I’m beginning to wonder. Nicely done.
Thanks for mentioning the new location for Thursday Doors.
Thanks, Dan, and thanks for becoming the new host for Thursday Doors. I’ll dip in when I can, especially as I haven’t participated as much as I used to. Good luck with running the challenge. I know you’re going to do a great job.
Thanks again, Hugh.
What a great door!
Thank you, Esther. I think so too.
A beautiful door besides the creepy details you point out, Hugh! 😁 I had read that Norm was handing TD off to Dan. Its a great challenge, one I need to take part in more often!
You know me and ‘creepy’ aspects, Terri. I dip into Thursday Doors when I can, although not as often as I used to. Not that I’ve run out of doors to photograph. I’ll definitely be back with more doors.
That’s a lovely way to adjust the season with that challenge. I like your take!
Thanks, Erika. I always enjoy setting and taking part in a challenge.
You obviously do, Hugh👍
