  1. Copacabana was an excellent choice for a story, Hugh. I was a huge Barry Manilow fan in the 70s and 80s and went to several of his concerts around Christmas time with a few friends. One of those concerts was the “Copacabana” concert, and it was much more like a musical play than a typical concert. They sang and danced and “played” out the story of the song throughout the evening. Still one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Thanks for the reminder.

    1. That is a show I would have loved to have seen, Marianne. I’m glad my song choice bought you back some lovely memories of his concerts. Music is a powerful tool when it comes to triggering memories.

  2. Oh yes! Walked along the Copacabana Beach (and Ipanema) singing the songs. Thanks for bringing back memories of just two years ago, Hugh … how time flies. Great video too … love the dancing.

      1. Thank goodness for the people who take(have) the time to make up these videos! I found a great one with a couple of years ago Hugh featuring some fabulous music – “the most beautiful music in the world”

  3. Loving this series Hugh and the flashbacks I get from your song choices. For some reason you took me back to high school days riding in the back seat of my friend Cindy’s Firebird to school. There will always 5 riding to school and I always got stuck with the hump in the middle back seat – seniority. Cindy and her then boyfriend in the front, her sister and boyfriend’s sister on either side of me and best friend me got the hump. As the Barry Manilow 8 track played over and over. Lol, thanks for the memories. ❤

    1. Wow! That song gave me goosebumps, Donna. One I’ve never heard before. Beautiful, yet sad. Those last words ‘even the snow turned to rain’ summed up what the story was all about. Thanks for sharing.

  4. This is the first time I’ve seen the video- love that song!
My choice comes from my country of Canada and is based on the true story of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It’s performed by the legendary singer Gordon Lightfoot.

    1. I’m currently spending my weekend listening to Storm Hannah who is hitting Ireland and the UK, Dan. However, the wind and rain she has bought means it’s a ‘staying in’ day – so I can catch up on some reading and finally install the Amazon Firestick, I got for Christmas, to the TV.

  5. I do like that song. I remember two girls doing a dance to it at our annual choreography competition at school!

I quite like this for a story song…

    Seven Years by Lukas Graham

      1. It surprisingly did today, haha. It was supposed to pour all day but stopped around noon and then the sun came out. Hope it was lovely in your area too!
