Welcome back to Weekend Music Share; the place where everyone can share their favourite music.

Last week’s songs were all about ‘firsts‘, and you all came up with some amazing pieces of music and songs that also brought back some lovely memories.
Memories dwell in our minds, and this got me thinking about a favourite song that describes me a lot.
After all, I’m a fiction writer, aren’t I?
Composed by Roger Hodgson, when he was only 19 years old, “Dreamer” peaked at number 13 on the UK singles’ chart in 1975. However, it wasn’t until a few years later that a live version of the song was released as a single in the U.S.A, where it peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
This week, share a favourite song that tells us a little bit about you. Share a link to it in the comments, or link back to this post from your blog.
Feel free to use the ‘Weekend Music Share‘ banner in your post, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #WeekendMusicShare on social media so other participants can find your post.
My thanks to Erika Kind for the inspiration for this feature.

I absolutely adore this idea! 👍🏻😎
Thank you. Please feel free to join in and share your favourite pieces of music with us every week.
Music bringing out the emotions, a sense if appreciation and memories. I just opened my own blog on which I currently review music only.
Wishing you good luck with your music blog.
I see that you have a following, I was hoping you could help me out with getting it out there.
Sure, check out my blogging tips posts on the menu of my blog. Lots of information in those posts on how to gain more followers and readers.
I don’t have a favourite song as such, but I posted an article today on my blog about my favourite 6 albums!
I have a few favourite albums, although they do seem to chop and change. Whereas my top 10 favourite songs pretty much always stay the same.
lol great song, we all need to dream 🙂
I agree and, of course, we all do. I just wish I could remember all my dreams.
lol try keeping a dream diary, it can be quite revealing!
The trouble is, I forget many of them as soon as wake up. 🙄
oh that is sad …
https://youtu.be/iJ1vBb3GKXc I hope this link works, Hugh. This song still sums me up. I was a precocious child and lol still a bit like, okay a lot like that as an adult. xx
It worked, Adele, and thanks for sharing it. Not a song I’ve heard before. I’m enjoying the fact that you’re all introducing me to new music.
Fantastic, Hugh, I was an original punk, then a goth, natural transition. lol
I’ve always loved the ‘Breakfast in America’ album, Hugh. I wandered back to INXS over the weekend, so this is a recent listen: https://youtu.be/hv_zJrO_ptk
I’ve not heard that INXS song before, Rob. I enjoyed the video.
I was tempted to share ‘Breakfast in America’ but I’m very much more a ‘Dreamer.’
You’re right, Hugh. Breakfast in America is a late 70’s splash of cynicism.
I was never much of a Supertramp fan, but the second I read the title of this song, I heard it playing in my head, lol.
I hope I haven’t given you an ‘earworm’, Teri. 😀
I used to be a Supertramp fan until a camping trip on an island back in the early 1990s. We were camping with my wife’s sister and her boyfriend on an island on Lake George in New York. You could only reach the island by boat and we spent the warm sunny days on the boat enjoying the water. A big part of this was listening to music. On this particular trip, we realized that the only cassette tape that we had on the boat was Supertramp’s greatest hits album. For four days we listened to this album non-stop and I was quite tired of it by the time the trip was over. It’s good music, but not on a continuous loop.
I can totally understand why you lost your liking for their music, under those circumstances, Don. I’d have been exactly the same with only hearing the same music on a constant loop. When I worked in a department store, it used to happen on several occasions when a new concession came in for a few weeks and play the same music over and over again. Not only that, but they had the same video running on a loop on several TV screens too. Thank goodness the Manager of the store got the message to stop it happening again.
I love Supertramp. One of my favorite songs of theirs is “HIde in your shell”.
I don’t know that one from the title, but I’ll look it up and see if I know it, Erika.
I commented in a quiet moment from my workplace but I could not get into Youtube for the link… hehe.
Hi, Hugh. I listen to a wide variety of music, particularly depending on mood or motivation level.
One I find clever and hilarious is Weird Al’s “Word Crimes.”
Thanks, Chelsea, I’ve seen the video before, and I love the song. Such a merry tune that makes me want to bounce around the room.
🙂 I appreciate the attention to detail in grammar and animation.
I’m very glad that I found ‘Grammarly’. Although, even it makes mistakes that ‘Word’ picks up.
I argue with corrections, frequently. 😀
Ahh, you’re taking me back Hugh, lol. Reminded me of one of my favorite songs from my then favorite band – Earth Wind and Fire – Fantasy ❤ https://youtu.be/r58GQYFZeLE
And ‘Fantasy’ is very much what I write about, too, Debby. A lovely song choice that also takes me back to the golden days of knowing I had the whole world in my pocket. Of course, I still do. 😀
xx
Love your attitude Hugh! Whether you write fantasy or use it for a means of escapism it’s a great method to take us away to somewhere else. 🙂 xx
Great song Hugh love it. May you always be a dreamer , you are the best 💜
I’ll never stop dreaming, Willow. In fact, we should all carry on dreaming.
Have a great week.
Thank you Hugh you too 💜
A great song choice, Hugh! I love Supertramp and not only Dreamer, but 1979’s hit The Logical Song (all those words!). Some great songs also shared in the comments!
Agreed, Terri. This feature has unravelled some fantastic songs.
On the sbuject of dreamers, I always liked this song – https://youtu.be/xZKuzwPOefs?t=5
One I’ve never heard before. Thanks for introducing it to us, Eugenia.
Hi, Hugh – I absolutely LOVE “Dreamer”! When I read your question the song that instantly came to mind does not describe me in the lyrics (at least I hope that it doesn’t). But I’ve had it sung to me so many times, including by a surprise limousine driver on a girl’s trip to Las Vegas, so the song has many fun memories for me!
I’ve never heard that song before, Donna. And I so agree it does not describe you, but what lovely memories about the limousine driver who sung it to you. Is there a post in the making about that trip? It sounds like it was great fun.
Oh my! I love that song and Dion. It´s been so long since I´ve heard it. Thanks!!
I smiled at the topic as my favorite music was written by Mozart and folks of that crowd. I nominate as my ‘favorite”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se0HPsJex04
We don’t hear much classical or opera in this feature. That you for sharing it.
I love this defiant song by the patron saint of survivors, Tina Turner. She had just turned 60 when she recorded this, and I was lucky enough to see her final tour in person that year.
She always looks so good whenever I see her on stage or on TV.
Thanks for that, Hugh. I have to go look it up on this side of the Atlantic, but I love that song.
I’m guessing the videos aren’t playing? Sorry about that, Dan. I hate it when videos from YouTube won’t play in some countries.
It’s OK, I found it – you still get credit for jogging my memory 🙂
If I hadn’t had a day like I’ve just had, I’d have gone for a dreamer song too. I haven’t got much of my song title!
Oh dear, Cathy. I hope your day gets better. We all have them, don’t we? I find that going out and getting some fresh air usually helps, especially if it’s a sunny, pleasant day. Living on the coast also helps blow away the cobwebs.
It does, Hugh, and perhaps several glasses of wine wouldn’t hurt 😉
Which reminds me. It’s almost wine O’clock here in the Roberts household. 🍷
Cheers! 🍷
Perfect! Such a great song. My choice would be a dreamer song too. Just a bit older. The Everly Brothers, All I Have to Do is Dream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTYe9eDqxe8
Don’t they look smart in their suits? Great choice. A classic song I still hear being played today.
I had to really think this o E through!
But here’s mine Boney M’s Brown Girl In The Ring!
Cos I’m Brown, I like dancing and it’s such a bubbly song!
I’m glad I got you thinking about this one.
And I love the song you chose. I remember it when it first came out. Love it to bits, and still do.
It did! I read your post and usually I reply straight away, but it needed a circuit of sainsbury for me to get the right one!
Its a great feel good song, isn’t it? 🙂
It is, although I enjoy all of their songs. I loved their fashion, too.
Me too!
