2018 Christmas Charity Appeal – Help Me Raise £250 For The Dogs Trust By Leaving Me Links To Your Blogs And Books

The Christmas tree is up, but something is missing. There are no gifts under it, and I need your help to put that right.

#christmastree #christmas #charity #dogstrust

For this year’s Christmas charity appeal, I’m asking you again to help me raise some money for The Dogs Trust.

The Dogs Trust, formerly known as the National Canine Defence League, is an animal welfare charity and humane society in the United Kingdom which specialises in the well-being of dogs. Click here to go to their website.

Want to get involved? Here’s what you need to do.

  1. In the comments section of this post, leave the name of your blog and a link to it. This can be a link to your ‘about me’ page, a favourite blog post you’ve published, or the home page of your blog.
  2. If you’re an author, you’re also welcome to leave a link to any books you have published. So, for example, leave me a link to your author or Goodreads page so that people visiting this post can view your books.
  3. Please consider donating to The Dogs Trust by visiting their website and clicking on the ‘Donate Now’ button.

That’s it, that’s all you need to do.

I will donate £1 to The Dogs Trust for every link that is left under my Christmas tree until I reach a target of 200 links.

To help me achieve my target, if you reblog or share this post via ‘Press This’, I will donate an extra £1 to the total (up to another £50).

If you do share this post via a reblog or ‘Press This’, I should receive a pingback to your post. However, I would recommend that you also leave a link to the reblog or your share in the comments section.

This charity appeal will run until 23:59 on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 when the Christmas tree will be taken down, so you’ve plenty of time to leave me a link to your blog and books over the busy Christmas and New Year period.

At the end of the appeal, I will create a heading entitled ‘Blogs To Follow in 2019’  on the menu bar of my blog. Anyone clicking on the link will be taken to a page where they can view all the links left to the blogs in this post. The link will remain on my blog until 23:59 on December 31st, 2019.

Please note that as I moderate all links and comments before they appear on my blog, there may be a time delay before your links and comments appear.

I hope you will consider helping me with this year’s Christmas charity appeal by leaving me a link to your blog and/or books. Thank you so much for considering it.

  1. We live with two elderly dachshunds and 4 huge cats, and all are rescue animals, except for one of the dachsies. I’m very happy to help you reach your goal, and I thank you for the chance to leave a link to my blog and my Amazon author page. Thanks, Hugh, and have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!

  2. Hi Hugh, I’ve been offline a while so only just found this. Great to see your Christmas tree appeal again, giving a voice to all the dogs the Trust cares for.
I hope all at your home have a lovely Christmas and you both find new Christmas socks without having to dig around in the garden!
Although I haven’t been too active lately with social media I have managed a few changes…
I have a new website for my own posts: https://www.judithbarrow-author.co.uk/ and a website for reviews etc https://judithbarrow.blogspot.com/.:
    My books are here:https://www.honno.co.uk/authors/b/judith-barrow/

    1. Hi Judith, thanks so much for leaving your links under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas.
Yes, I’m hoping for some more Christmas socks this year. I don’t know why, but the ones I got last Christmas seem to have gone astray. 😀
Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope we can meet up sometime in 2019. In fact, I’m sure we will.
      Merry Christmas 🎄

  3. Hi Hugh – as I told Clare, I don’t have any dog-related posts, but I do love my little squirrels that I see in the park where I walk daily. I don’t have any pets so they are like having a faithful dog who runs to see you – it makes my heart melt. This is a lovely gesture you are doing. This was a favorite recent post about my furry friends: “Sharin’ the Love” – Linda Schaub

    1. Hi Linda, what a wonderful story about the squirrels in your local park. Thank you so much for sharing a link to the post under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise some funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas.
      Merry Christmas to you. 🎄

      1. Thank you Hugh – what you are dong is so wonderful. The world needs more kind people like you. I do get a kick out of those squirrels in the Park. They are as loyal as having a pet dog. Merry Christmas to you as well! P.S. I passed along your site to a UK fellow blogger, Heather (Dizzy the Donkey), and she said “I know Hugh – I did this last year – such a good cause!”

        1. Thanks so much for passing details of my 2018 Christmas Charity appeal to Heather, Linda. Thank you, too, for your kind words. I enjoy raising funds for charity at Christmas time while giving bloggers and authors a chance to promote their blogs and books.
          Merry Christmas ☃️

    1. Hi Olga, thank you so much for leaving a link to your blog under the Christmas tree and for also reblogging and sharing the post with your readers. I really appreciate it.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. ✨

    1. We’ve missed you, Steve. I hope we’ll see the return of Mr McSteveface and his ‘other’ blog in 2019.

Thanks so much for leaving a link under the Christmas tree. I have to say that I do like the new version of ‘A Spaceman Came Travelling’.

      Merry Christmas 🎅

  4. Hi there Hugh, greetings from downunder! I would love to be a gift under the tree! What a lovely generous thing to do, you really are very special 🙂 . My blog link is http://www.debs-world.com and I welcome anyone to stop by and visit, telling me they found me here at your blog. Merry Christmas to you and I wish you well in this endeavour.

    1. Hi Debbie, thank you so much for leaving a link to your blog under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise some funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. 🎄

        1. Thanks, Debbie. Yes, I agree, it’s been quite a year in the blogging world. And it was great meeting you at the Bloggers Bash, too. That day already seems like a very long time ago, but a great memory for all of us that attended. I hope you’ll be able to make it over for another Bloggers Bash.

  5. You are awesome, Hugh! And, by the looks of the amount of likes and comments, you will have no problem reaching your goal. Cheers to all puppies worldwide! Mark and I are planning to volunteer for a couple of weeks at a humane society here in the western USA next year. We tried to do a day in San Diego as well, but the process is complicated and they seem to have enough volunteers already.

Here is a link to my blog Roaming About. I decided to attach the “About Us” page this time, since that’s your favorite. 🙂

    1. I’m well on my way to hitting that target I’ve set, Liesebt. I can’t thank you all enough for leaving links to blogs, books, and author pages under the Christmas tree. I know the money we’re raising will go a long way in helping our four-legged friends at the Dogs Trust.

Thank you for leaving a link to your blog under the Christmas tree and for Mark and you planning on volunteering at a humane society in the New Year.

      Merry Christmas. 🎄

    1. I’m still looking for lots more links, Na’ama, so thank you so much for leaving your link under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas.
      Merry Christmas 🎅

  6. Reblogged this on Whippet Wisdom – a Highland Journey and commented:
Hugh from Hugh’s News & Views has started his Christmas Appeal in aid of Dogs Trust and will donate £1 to The Dogs Trust for every link that is left under his Christmas tree until he reaches a target of 200 links. If you have published a book, you can leave a link to your Author Pages on Amazon and Goodreads too. Feel free to hop across and meet some other great bloggers too!

  7. Hello there, my about page needs some serious updating so the landing page of my blog it is https://solveigwerner.com at the moment you’ll find at least one Christmas/winter themed post most likely written by a guest as it is the advent season and my blog traditionally gets turned into an advent calendar (it’s the 4th edition this December). Have a great Advent and a great Christmas!

    1. What a great idea to have an Advent Calendar made up of guest posts, Solveig. I wish you much success with it.

Thank you so much for leaving a link to your blog under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas.

      Merry Christmas. 🎄

  8. What a fabulous way of supporting a charity, Hugh. There should be lots of happy dogs this Christmas!
Here’s the link to my blog
where I’m in the process of highlighting my favourite reads of the year (in four instalments).
Also taking advantage of your invitation to post a link to my Amazon author page viewauthor.at/AnneGoodwin
    Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!

    1. Thank you so much for leaving your links under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise some funds for the Dogs Trust this Christmas, Anne. I’m not sure that your Amazon link has worked so you may like to leave it again.
      Merry Christmas to you. 🎄

  9. Reblogged this on Mary Smith's Place and commented:
Hugh and HughsViewsandNews has made a very generous offer to bloggers and authors as a way of raising funds for his favourite dog charity this Christmas. Do pop over to read all about it and take part.

  10. I’m very late to this – hope not too late. It’s a great idea, Hugh, and very generous of you. I hope the space under your tree gets filled. I picked a random post on my blog at MarySmith’sPlace: https://marysmithsplace.wordpress.com/2018/04/07/marysmithsplace-turtle-watching My author page at Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mary-Smith/e/B001KCD4P0/ref=dp_byline_cont_pop_ebooks_1
I’ll re-blog your post. Still not sure about pingbacks despite reading your tutorial several times but I can do a straight reblog!

    1. I’m running this Christmas Charity appeal until the 5th January 2019, so you’re not late at all, Mary. Thank you so much for leaving links to your blog and Amazon page under the Christmas tree and for helping me raise funds for the Dogs Trust. Also, thank you so much for reblogging the post and sharing it with your readers. I appreciate it very much.
      Merry Christmas 🎄

  11. Hi Hugh,
I found this post from another blog that I follow and would be happy to help the pups. Both of our boys are rescued from the local shelter and we occasionally make donations there. Here is the link to my blog https://donteatitsoap.com/ I followed yours as well. God bless and Merry Christmas.
