Social media is powerful. Love it or hate it, it’s one the most accessible free ways to get you, your blog and/or your books noticed. That’s one of the reasons why I’m holding a Social Media Link Party.

Take a look at this email I got recently from the team over at Buffer.

Yes, my blog post ‘Coming Out Of The Closet‘ got retweeted and put in front of nearly 200,000 potential new readers. OK, given the way Twitter works, not all of them will have seen that tweet on their timeline, but I’m not going to complain about being helped in bringing potential new readers to my blog, am I?

I’m inviting everyone to leave me up to four links to their social media accounts. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Copy and paste up to four links to your social media accounts and place them in the comments section of this post. To copy links, go to the home or profile page of your social media account and copy and paste the URL address. Here’s an example of one of mine.

  • Go visit and follow some of the social media accounts of the other people who have already left links. If you’re early and nobody has left any links, then call back later.
  • Please do not include or leave any links to your blogs or blog posts. If you do, then your comment will be sent straight to the WordPress spam monster. You don’t want to end up visiting him, do you? If you’re looking for a party where you can leave blog links, then click here and visit Susie over at her ‘Wild Ride’ party.

To get this party started, here are some links to my social media accounts. You don’t have to follow me on all of them, but I’d be delighted to welcome you to any of these social media platforms.

By growing your social media following, you could potentially open up a social media highway to your blog and watch the number of visitors increase. Take a look at where most of the traffic to my blog came from last year.

  1. As someone looking into this world this post and the links are great. Thanks to everyone.

Also I can’t imagine what it’s like to get so much attention from your social media? How do you guys manage it all especially having multiple accounts.

I’m new to blogging so I’m thinking of getting on twitter and Instagram. It’s opened up so many creative ideas that I’d like to experiment with. It’s an amazing community on here.

    1. The one piece of advice I would give about social media is not to spread yourself too thinly on it. Stick with 2-3 social media platforms and concentrate on them. When I cut back on the number of social media platforms I was using, I gained a lot more visitors to my blog from the ones I was still using. Try and use them everyday and remember to share content from other bloggers and writers on them. Most will then share some of your work.
      I hope that helps.
