    1. I agree it was a brave step, especially as the three stories I’ve recorded, so far, were all unscripted. I’ve been rather taken aback by just how much people have enjoyed listening to them. Thank you.

  1. Remind me never to invite the character in your story to my Summerhouse Hugh – yikes!!!! Oh I love your gruesome, dark twists, great story! xxx

      1. Phew…I was a bit worried, as he did sound a bit like you, but then he probably did that on purpose as a disguise. Got chills now…glad he’s gone, but I’ll still be checking every nook and cranny of my summerhouse from now on! And yes, I heard it perfectly 🙂 xx

        1. You’re going to have to speak to Sue Vincent for putting that photo of a summerhouse in the challenge, Sherri 😀
Glad you could hear it. I’ll be doing more of these recordings and, who knows, there may even be a happy ending amongst the stories 😀

        2. Haha…yes, I will Hugh 😀 I look forward to more recordings, I felt like I was back to my Jackanory days! You’re a great storyteller, as I’ve always said… 🙂 xxx

    1. Oh no! That’s a real shame, Sue. I had problems uploading the recording. It wouldn’t work for me until my third attempt at uploading it. I’m still working on finding something that works better. WordPress weren’t much help.

        1. Some people have told me that these recordings won’t work on one device, yet on another device, they will work. Next time you visit Nick, ask him if he can play it on his computer. Hopefully, it will work. 😀 My advice for everyone (and something I should have said in the post) don’t be alone when you listen to it. 😀

        1. Most definitely!! 🙂 But now that you’ve thrown that out there I’m going to read each story wondering- is this the one? 🙂

  2. Oh no. Was loving your accent, and then you got all nasty at the end. (I was expecting a twist, just not that, as i was lulled my your lilt). I think I would have much preferred to read this. Sorry to be negative Hugh, but this recording made me spill my (figurative) cup of tea.
Love your voice though – magical.

    1. Thanks, Terri. I’m now enjoying my new way of storytelling. Unscripted again, and this was my first attempt at this story. I’m going to have to investigate some software so I can add sound effects. Hopefully, that’ll get everyone hooked even more. Maybe I should get someone compose me a theme tune as well? 😀
