Featured Blog Post

Can you really fall out of love with your favourite genre? I don’t think I could ever get fed up with reading books and watching movies and T.V. shows with a Time-Travel theme. The subject has always fascinated me, and I’d be more likely to start eating parsnips than give up on time-travel. Joce, over at Write Through The Night, wrote an interesting post, Why I’ve Been (Unintentionally) Avoiding YA, outlining why she thinks she has outgrown reading Young Adult Fiction. Blogging Tips Featured Post

For many, social media can be a nightmare. Not only is there a learning curve, but there is just so many social media platforms to choose from. `10 Social Media Hacks That All New Bloggers Need To Know’ is a post written by Matt, over at The Gay Stepdad.  Matt shares with us how he used social media to help increase the number of visitors to his blog. In just two weeks, his blog stats went from 200 hits a week, to 1,500 hits a week. Click here to read all the details.

Calling All Budding Authors Under the Age of 17

Christoph Fischer is one of the organisers of the upcoming Llandeilo Book Fair, being held between the 27th and the 30th of April. I attended both book fairs last year and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Christoph recently announced a short story and drawing competition for anyone under the age of 17. The prizes include money and book tokens. If you have or know any children who love to write and/or draw, then read the details of the competitions by clicking here.

Raise Your Glasses

As somebody who loves to write short stories, I was delighted to hear the announcement from the author, Jane Dougherty, that she has published a book of five short stories. Entitled Tales From The Northlands, the Kindle version is currently priced at only £0.99 and Jane is also offering a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Head on over and check all the details by clicking here.

Free Photos For Your Blog

We all know that we shouldn’t be using images or photos on our blogs that we don’t have permission to use or which are not free to use. I’ve already heard of a couple of bloggers who have been fined for using images/photos that were not theirs to use. So, if you’re looking for some photos that are 100% free to use, head on over to the blog of Terri Webster Schrandt who is offering hundreds of her own photos free to use on your blog. Yes, they are absolutely free to use. Click here for all the details.

Glimpses – The Latest Review

Thank you to Robbie, at Robbie’s Inspiration, for an excellent review of Glimpses. One of the stories in the book, ‘The Truth App’, seems to be a firm favourite with readers, including Robbie. Click here to read her review and don’t forget the deadline for the Glimpses competition is fast approaching. There’s a £100 Amazon gift card up for grabs, but you only have until midnight on the 28th February to enter the competition. Click here for all the details.

Are you ending up in the WordPress spam folders of other bloggers?

It seems I am. I’ve been captured by the spam monster before, and it seems it has caught me again. I’ve reported the issue to WordPress, but it does mean until they release me that I’m unable to leave any comments on your blog posts. While we’re waiting, maybe you could check and see if I am lurking somewhere in your WordPress spam folder?

That’s it for this edition. Until next time, happy blogging.

Hugh's Views And News Glimpses competition

And why not enter this year’s Bloggers Bash Competition by clicking here.

      1. Did you see the post yet. You’re going to get all kinds of Twitters today. Just retweet! 🙂 Also, you can now reblog this post on your site for more publicity. AND new tip for me, list the article in your About page like building your resume. 🙂

  1. Hugh, you’ve mentioned that you went to the Llandeilo Literary Festival last year. Are you going to this one? Only wondered, because I’m going to try and get down for a couple of days myself (work permitting).

    1. Thanks, Robbie. I left a comment on your review post, but it hasn’t appeared. I think it may have gone to your blog’s spam folder as all the comments I’ve left on other blogs today seem to have disappeared. I’ve reported the problem to WordPress and hope they’ll fix it soon. It happened to me once before and was very frustrating.

  2. Thank you sooooo much for including my post!!! That means a lot!!! Also the “budding authors” call is really interesting to me, being 17 I want to see if I can take part, so thank you for showing it to me!!
