Solitude – #photography

It’s been a while since a certain Cardigan Welsh Corgi, by the name of Toby, featured in a blog post here on Hugh’s Views And News. Why? Well, he tells me he’s been too busy. Not too busy to help me select some photos for this week’s WordPress photography challenge that comes with the theme of solitude.

Did you spot the two bits of solitude in the second photo?

And I couldn’t help but include a photo of my own. This one has featured on the blog before, as part of the weekly photography challenges I hosted. This particular week the theme was also solitude.

  1. I’m kinda new to this but I really think your photography skills are awesome. Cute dog Toby + great pictures = great blog!

  2. Beautiful pictures. I’ve lived alone for quite a while but recently, due to family circumstances, I’ve been spending lengthy periods of time with my mother, in Spain. One gets set in one’s ways, but although I worry when I leave her, these days back in my own place I’ve felt a sensation of peace and serenity (no matter the cold and the weather). I think for me it’s having space to think and breathe (even if it is headspace and not so much physical space). Thanks, Hugh.

    1. Thanks, Miriam. The ‘solitude’ challenge I did was the best-viewed post of all my photography challenges posts. I’ve been asked if I’m going to bring the photography challenge back. The jury is still out on that one.

  3. How lovely to see Toby again, Hugh. I hope he is well and enjoying himself.
Solitude for me is early in the morning when I am the only one up, enjoying the peace before the mayhem begins! 🙂

  4. The first shot says so much. I can only wonder what he was thinking as he sat staring off into the light 🙂 , beautiful shots for the challenge 🙂 .

  5. Solitude for me? Being out on the water, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, on our sailboat. Or. in the middle of the woods or the jungle, with only the company of nature. 🙂

  6. Your three pictures to me illustrate the relief and pleasure of solitude! Solitude is not loneliness. I think most of my extended family has a need for ‘downtime’ and if everyone in the house or on a holiday is of the same mind that’s fine. I have never officially lived by myself, so maybe solitude is not so attractive when it stretches into infinity!

  7. Yes I spotted the solitary seated man.. Love the two other photos too Hugh with Toby as the starring role .. And I am a bit of a solitary soul, I love my own company, never feel alone which is why I love my time in nature so much. No idle chatter 😉 … Though I do so feel for those who suffer loneliness that is a different emotion all together..
Wishing a relaxing rest of your Sunday Hugh..
    Blessings Sue 🙂

  8. To me solitude means that moment when you wake up early on a summers day and stand in the back garden and the only noise you hear is the birds. Oh, does Toby like cats btw?

        1. I think I need a nap too… Sonu Singh is curled up at the end of my bed snoozing… the house is quiet as the kids have gone to badminton but they’ll be back soon… no time for sleep here!!!
