I’ve been loving all the memories you’ve been sharing with me for this new music feature. Thank you to everyone that has participated.
Have you ever heard of Hi-NRG music? Here, in the U.K, it was very popular back in the 1980s, and one singer who was on the Hi-NRG circulate, at the time, was Hazell Dean. Hazell had three UK top 10 hits with her Hi-NRG tracks, with the best-known probably being ‘Who’s Leaving Who.’ Take it away, Hazell.
And here’s the second video in case that first one does not play for all of you. *Cough, cough* – excuse the pre-advert which you can skip.
Reaching the dizzy heights of number 4 in the U.K charts, number 2 in Ireland, number 11 in Switzerland, and a top 20 hit in Austria, Belguim, Germany and South Africa, Hazell never actually managed to conquer the charts in the U.S.A. 😞
Even with some of the strange lyrics –
“And I don’t know the answers cause I don’t know the questions” 🤔
– this particular track brings back many happy memories of my disco dancing days on the floors of a few London nightclubs.
And I love the video that was made to accompany the song (even with some of the very bad dad dancing going on – *cough, again* – Sorry, Hazell).
In 1984, Hazell even had a stab at being chosen to represent the U.K in The Eurovision Song Contest but, sadly, her song was placed seventh out of eight songs.
Thank you to everyone who left a link to a favourite song in the comments section of last week’s post. And a big thank you to Ruth, Barbara, Terri, and Kat who all joined in with publishing a blog post of a favourite song.
Have you heard of Hazell Dean? Do you know anybody who can dad dance? What did you think of my choice for week 5?
