RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Challenge No:79 – Crystal & Hope

Here’s my entry for this week’s haiku challenge over at RonovanWrites.

The two words we had to use were Crystal & Hope.

Hoping it's still on

Crystal Tipps & Alistair

Watching with mother

I wonder how many of you who live in the UK remember the TV programme from the 1970s?

      1. I can’t imagine you with Crystal Tipps hair Hugh! If they brought her back they would probably straighten her hair and glue a mobile phone to her ear to make her more in keeping with the kids nowadays! 🙂

      2. lol – oh my hair when I was at school was like hers. Then again, most of the boys seem to have the same hairstyle. Short hair in those days was a no no. Yes, we’d have to give Crystal an iPad and iPod as well whilst Alistair would have a nice coat.

      1. All that I remember is a mass of unruly red hair and a cat… is that the right one, or am I actually thinking of something else entirely? I don’t remember much kids TV. Mostly Tiswas. The swap shop. Hong Kong Phooey. Dangermouse.

      2. I think you’re probably referring to ‘Bagpuss’ rather than Crystal Tipps and her Dog, Alistair. Crystal Tipps had very unruly hair but never had a cat.
I always loved the receptionist and switchboard operator in Hong Kong Phooey. Her name escapes me, but her line was always “Hello this (and then her name), if you want a date I’m off at 8!”

      3. Lol! You remember it all better than me. Yes, I remember Bagpuss, of course. And do you remember Wacky Races, I think it was called? With Dastardly and Muttly. And the Roadrunner. They just don’t make em like they used to.

    1. Oh I was here last week as well, Vashti. I’ve had a bit of a ‘haiku block’ over the last few months but I seem to have climbed that wall and come down the other side now.
“Watch with Mother” was a series the BBC put together back in the 1960s. It went on for many years and I remember it so well. Those were the days that mums stayed at home so it’s certainly very outdated now.
