Happy Thanksgiving To Not Only My American Friends, But Everyone.

Now that Thanksgiving has arrived, doesn’t that mean it’s time to watch a clip from my all time favourite movie?

Or maybe you’d prefer this clip?

I like them both. Β Get the Christmas movie DVDs out and let the countdown to Christmas begin.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

  1. In your honor, I am putting up a Christmas Tree this year, Hugh. That way I feel like we are celebrating Christmas with you and John! It will be fun. When are you putting up your tree? I will try and do mine at the same time. We will have a joint Welsh/American Christmas… well, trees at least! ❀

    1. Oh wow! That is so very nice of you Colleen. Plus, it will also come in very handy for my Charity Christmas Tree Topper challenge which I am running again this year.

We are travelling to Wales on Sunday and will be staying there until January 6th. Planning to put up the Christmas Tree on Sunday 13th December. If that date changes then I will let you know.

Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving. ❀

      1. Well I suppose it depends on what your beliefs are. Certainly with the Advant Calendars with the pictures behind each window, there is usually always a Nativity scene behind Window 24. It was also the biggest window to open and I remember me and my sister having to open each half of the window on that day to stop any arguments.

  2. When I saw White Christmas years ago it was in black and white. Oh how I love their beautiful blue dresses. The boys look cute in their blue sashes too. I hadn’t seen that one before. When I hear the song I think of my mother-in-law who used to sing it about her and her sister. Thanks for giving me smiles today. πŸ™‚

    1. I remember the black and white version very well, Norah. I’m so pleased that many of the older films have now been bought to even more life in colour. The final scene of this movie must be one of the most eye-catching scenes of all time.

Very happy to have made you smile by posting these clips. I hope you’ll watch the movie over the coming weeks. If you don’t have it on DVD then I am sure it will aired on TV over the coming weeks.

  3. Too early for Crimbo in this house, Hugh! 3 childrens birthdays in November and December! But I will get the decs out on Dec 1st and gradually spread Christmas around the house. Its funny how I feel Christmas less and less each year. I used to love it, but I think the magic kind of vanished a bit when the boys stopped believing. I will try and put my tree up on the same day so we can have a welsh/ Irish/ American tree decorating celebration. Must post the results on fb too!

    1. Hi Ali. When we saw the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade last year, we were told that it marked the beginning of the Christmas season in the States. In fact, Santa and his sleigh were the final highlight of the parade. Christmas does seem to be mentioned earlier and earlier every year. When I was growing up, there was little evidence of Christmas until December 1st. When I went to live in London, back in the mid 1980s, I remember how Harrods and Selfridges would battle who would be the first to open their Christmas department. This year, Channel 5 started playing Christmas Movies in the first week of November (not that I am complaining of course). πŸŽ…πŸ»

That would fabulous if you joined in the Christmas Tree Topper challenge. I’ll be publishing a post that day with all the details. I’m quite excited about it. πŸŽ„
