Have you met my guest blogger, Norm Frampton, this month? If not then check out the guest post he wrote where he gives lots of fantastic tips and advice about photography.
Norm also runs a photo challenge every week entitled Thursday Doors. I’ve taken lots of photos for the challenge but have never got around to participating. Whenever I go out I’m always stopping and taking photos of doors and thought it about time I joined the challenge.
Here’s my first Thursday Doors photo.
Don’t you think this looks like a happy door? Look at those big eyes in the glass panes and its letterbox as its mouth. I can imagine this door leading to a happy house and a happy household.
Fancy joining in the fun and participating? Head over to Norm’s blog and he’ll explain what you need to do.
Thanks for visiting.

What a fabulous door! It almost looks like the face of a Disney character!
That’s another new version of what this door looks like. Glad you like it.
This is the most fascinating door I’ve ever seen. It has real WOW appeal. ❤ ❤ ❤
I agree, Tess. Wow, like wow! That’s exactly what I said when I saw it. 🙂
I LOVE this door! Definitely unusual and unique.
Thanks Colline. I agree. If there was a contest for the most unique and unusual door, I think this one would have a good chance of winning.
That is one beautiful door, Hugh. Yes, it does look happy. 🙂
Glad you agree about the happiness, Suzanne. It’s interesting what we are all seeing in that door.
I see a lot of Thursday door posts all of a sudden, yours looks great! I need some pics of doors. Been photographing fall leaves lately 🙂
It’s a great challenge to participate in, Terri. It’s taken me months to publish this first entry and I’m already hooked on taking pictures of doors.
I’m excited! We have a new hobby, lol!
Hugh, welcome to the challenge. Such fun. Your door is very different and yes, happy.
janet
Thanks very much Janet. Glad you agree that it looks happy. Most of the commenters have said the same thing.
What a delightful door for your first entry – looks like it could be made of vanilla ice-cream which is perhaps why it it looks so happy? 😀
I never thought of that. Reminds me of Willy Wonka and his Chocolate Factory. Maybe everything else in that house is made of nice stuff?
Could be pure gingerbread inside 😀
And Hansel and Gretel living there 🙂
A very chubby Hansel and Gretel ! 🙂
Great door… looks very inviting. 🙂
I agree Kev. Never seen another one like this anywhere.
It’s the first I’ve seen like it.
I didn’t see the face until you pointed it out…nice 🙂
Thanks Aimer.
That’s one happy door Hugh, love it 🙂 xx
Thanks Sherri. I’m glad you think so. Most people seem to think it’s a happy looking door. Have a great weekend.
xx
Thanks Hugh, we did have a lovely weekend and hope you did too. I’ll be back to read your latest post later on today. Still playing catch up…always, methinks 🙂 xx
Lovely door and a wonderful face! Would fit in this challenge: http://rosenruthie.de/2015/11/01/i-see-faces-41/
Thank you very much. I love the challenge you included. Like my door it looks great fun.
Love the door. A great find, Hugh!
Thanks Olga. There will be lots more doors appearing soon 🙂
I have to wonder about what goes on behind that door. It is very unusual and I wonder about the choice.
I’m wondering now if the people who live there chose that door. It is an unusual choice, but very original. I’ve never seen one quite this anywhere else.
Nor me. It is interesting.
I inadvertently take photos of doors…something about them that forces me. I think this door looks more bewildered than happy. But maybe it’s me?
I like hearing everyones prospective about this door. Most think happy, but I like the fact that some of us can see something else. It adds to the fun.
It’s a lovely door, and I like the idea of this challenge, will have to check it out 🙂
Thanks Helen. Please do come and join in Norm’s challenge. It’s great fun.
I will! I have just the door photo for it 🙂
I looked at it and thought ‘beautiful.’ But, then I really had a good laugh when I went back and looked at it as a person. Funny. 🙂
Thanks Judy. I guess we can call it both beautiful and funny then 🙂 I know from the comments that it has made a few people laugh.
I immediately thought it looked like a face! It is a beautiful door.
Thanks Sarah. I’m glad you can see the face of the door as well. 🙂
It does look happy! Love it Hugh!
Thanks Lynn.
That is a very good door, great character but looks rather sad?
Thanks Andrew. Most people seem to think it looks happy, but it’s great to hear all the different perspectives about it. 🙂
I have looked again and I still can’t see happy!
Brilliant door, Hugh. It really does look like a face.
Thanks Jean. Glad you can see the face in that door as well. 🙂
Certainly is a happy door.
I’m glad you are with me on that, John. 👍
This was a great first Thursday’s Doors post, Hugh. I liked it and it does make me smile. All kinds of little details! Fun addition to the gang. I don’t link up with Norm, but give him credit! 🙂 I am featuring a “happy cafe” door on my blog today, delicious food included. ♡
Thank you so much. I’m glad the door makes you smile. Most people seem to think that it is a ‘happy’ door. I’ve been meaning to participate in Norm’s challenge for ages and am so pleased I finally made it.
Lovely Huh! 😁
Thanks Ali. 📸
I think it looks like a sad and tired face. Kinda like Droopy Dog. Cool door though!
Oh no, Steve. No, no, no! Don’t say that about my door. It’s happy and has lots of loving and hugs to give. If we can hug trees then we can hug doors, so please give my door a hug.
Oh ok http://youtu.be/5Q84oP5JilU
I can see the lioness now and I remember him well, but where’s his ears on the door?
Sorry? I didn’t hear your question lol
A wonderful choice for your first entry Hugh! Definitely a fun, welcoming looking door. Well done, so glad you decided to jump in and join us 🙂
I’ve been meaning to join in the challenge for weeks now, Norm. If only you could see all the pictures of doors on my computer hard-drive. I’ve enough for the next 12 months, but I’ll still be taking photos of more doors. It’s a fun challenge and I’ll certainly be back with more doors for you.
Wonderful choice – the first thing I thought when I saw this was “happy door” – I really like this.
Thanks Dan. I’m glad you agree with me. I think I’d like this as my front door. It’s just how I’m going to get it because I’ve never seen another one like it before.
The eyes of the door are most unusual – what are they do you think? Portholes? I wouldn’t want to keep this door clean!
Yes, I think they are. They looked like dimples, as if somebody had dropped a stone into some still water and then watching the ripples. I think it’s quite well protected being under than small porch but I’m sure it needs a pressure hose on it from time to time.
Happy, warm, and inviting. So what’s for dinner Hugh? LOL ❤
Well, I’ve just baked a Christmas cake 🎅
We may well eat this one and I’ll bake another for the festive season. The house is smelling of Christmas.
Open that big door now! LOL xo
Oh no! I’ve lost the key. I’ll have to push some through the letterbox. 🎅
xx
I’ll take it however I can get it! LOL xo
that door is wonderful!!! 😀
Thanks Cee. It seems to be getting the 👍 from everyone 🙂
What a door! Such personality!
I’m sure it would be the life and soul of any party with a personality like that 🙂
That’s an awesome door!
I agree. It just shouts out “Happy”
What an awesome entry for your first door!! #iseefaces 🙂
Thanks Deb. Thanks for the hashtag as well. That’s a new one on me.
Oh, I have more 🙂 #facesinplaces #faceseverywhere Clearly spending too much time researching my hashtags on Instagram!
Great door! Excellent choice! Yes, it does look happy 🙂
I’m glad you agree with me, Joey. I’d like a front door like that.
I think it looks rather surprised – maybe because of the number of times people stop to admire it – and photograph it!
I think you could be right about that, Mary. 🙂
It looks like my wife’s handbag. I bet there’s less within it though.
I hope she doesn’t read this and bash you with her handbag, Richard 🙂
I’m not scared of her!
Disclaimer: Please don’t tell her that, Hugh.
You’re secret is safe with me, Richard. Now pass me that box of Mars Bars you kindly donated to me 🙂
Yes, sir, certainly, sir.
Following him since you introduced him the other day, Hugh. Love his work.
That’s great to hear, George. This photo challenge of Norm’s is also great fun. Maybe you’ll join in? 📸
Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented:
Hugh Roberts has taken part in a photo challenge.. Doors.. love this one.
Thanks Sally. Doesn’t this door just want to make you smile? I absolutely loved it when I saw it. 😀 I wonder who lives in a house with a door like this? 🤔
I think that there is a programme that covers that.. through the keyhole!! XXS
Whimsical happy home. Heading over to Norm’s blog.
I’m glad you agree. This door just wants to make everyone smile.
To success …lol.
Enjoy your day.
Greeat choice. Looks amazing 🙂
Thanks Christoph. Happy Door, Happy Household.
