Here’s a must read post if, like me, you have just opened an Instagram account.
Thank you very much to Elizabeth for taking up my cry for help and putting this post together. I’m already hooked on Instagram and it will come in very handy for my brand new photo challenge series which started on Saturday.
Please pay Elizabeth’s blog a visit and tell her I sent you. She’d be very happy to welcome you to her blogging community.
Finally, if you have an Instagram account then I’d love to follow you over there. You can follow me on Instagram at @hugh.roberts05
Great post, Hugh! Thanks for sharing. I’m following you on Instagram! 😉
I’ll be over to follow you as well, Vashti. I’m enjoying my time on Instagram.
Thanks for sharing the tutorial. 🙂
You’re very welcome.
Hi Hugh: I’ve been wondering about Instagram for a while. I nearly signed on for it, until I realised it seems designed mostly as an App for the phone and many of the things I had thought about sharing where in my computer. I’m terrible at pictures so I can’t see myself making much of this and don’t have much time for the places I already follow and try to interact in so…but I’ll check and see. Perhaps the post will convince me…
Hi Olga, I must admit and say I was a little disappointed in that Instagram was not built for a desktop, but I’ve loved using it on my iPad. I’m getting more and more interested in photography and it’s a great way to also view lots of other photos taken by other people. It was also good to sign up to Instagram when I started my first photo challenge here on my blog. I’ve had lots of people take up the challenge on Instagram as well. Yes, it does take up some time, but I’ve decided to move away from Google+, in place of Instagram, so am not eating into any of my writing time 🙂
Instagram is one of the many Indie requirements I haven’t found time for… yet. Thanks for the info Hugh. Hugs.
You’re welcome Teagan, but I must pass on the thanks to Elizabeth who put the Instagram tutorial together for me. Hopefully see on there one day 🙂
It has to be easier than Twitter! (just sayin’) 🙂
Ha! I’m not so sure…yet, but it does have hashtags like Twitter 🙂
Hi Hugh, greetings from another Instagram newbie. I joined at the weekend and actually put up a pic of my brekkie before I heard of this. I must edit it and add your hashtag to be part of your photo challenge;) I’m going to head over and follow you now. I am @stardustincolour. Have a lovely day 🙂
Hi Nicola,
Thank you so much for your comments. I hope you found Elizabeth’s post as useful as I did. Being newbies to Instagram I think she did a great job in the write up she did on how Instagram works.
Thanks for following me on Instagram. I’ve tried following you but for some reason when I press the follow button it does not seem to work. I’l keep trying.
Oh no, that’s kind of concerning Hugh. I hope there is not a problem with my profile, sorry that happened :/Please do try again later if you get the chance. I found Elizabeth’s post very helpful. Only thing is I don’t know how to use emojis or where to find them? 🙂
Hi Nicola, that follow button is working now, so I’m following you on Instagram.
As for emojis – if you’re an Apple user (like me) then you will find the emojis button (a little smily face) on the far left hand side, after the 123 button, on the keyboard.
Thanks Hugh, I literally just found the emojis a couple of minutes before I read this. Yes I have an iPhone but only got it at the weekend so I’m acclimatising. Hehe :)Thanks a million for the follow !
Hi Hugh, I know you’d love it!
Hiya Hugh, I am new to Instagram as well. In a very short time I really love it, though have only just acquired a phone worthy of taking advantage of the wonderful world that Instagram is. I do know that there is an Instagram widget that can be added to your sidebar here. It shows your recent Insta-post. I have it. Will find you and follow you now. Cheers, Melissa
Thanks for letting me know about the Instagram widget Melisaa. I’ll go and check it out and add it to my sidebar. A lot of people have participated in my first photo challenge via Instagram, so I hope I can showcase the entries there.
Thanks for following me on Instagram. I’ve followed you back and look forward to seeing your photos.
Best wishes,
Hugh
I have an account on Instagram but I’m really a klutz there – no idea what I’m doing. Golly my breakfasts are so boring compared with everyone else’s!
Thanks for following me on Instagram, Jan. I’ve followed you back. I like the photo you posted there of your breakfast. Not boring at all. Healthy and mouth-watering 😉
Couldnt agree more on other social media getting overwhelming at times. Neat photos make the day.
I’m already converted to Instagram, Aby. It makes a welcome change to the other social media platforms.
Great Post.
Thanks Mukul!
Instagram is the one social media outlet I am always tuned in to, even when I am taking breaks from Facebook, twitter and even here.
I can’t wait to get stuck into Instagram. I’m already following you over there. It looks great fun.
Followed you back, and just followed Elizabeth.
I think I like it even when everything else is overwhelming because it is “just” pictures. Powerful, fun, great, amazing, interesting pictures, but something that I can take in the moment without too much thought. If any of that makes any sense 😀
It does and I know just what you mean. Sometimes things on here can get overwhelming. I’m really starting to get into photography so Instagram seemed the perfect bolting place for me.
Yes, I agree with you, I can spend hours looking at the photos in there, from my home I can visit people in many countries, I am learning many things in there. No stress at all.
