Blogging under the influence

Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to a very special lady today. Her name is Dorne, and she is the very first guest blogger on Hugh’s Views And News.  Although I’ve only known Dorne for about six weeks, we have both realised how much of a wicked sense of humour we both have.  So, grab yourself a cup of coffee or a glass of mulled wine and come and meet Dorne.

Dorne Whale
Hello, I’m Dorne. Pleased to meet you.

Hi, I’m Dorne Whale and Hugh [brave man] has asked me to do a guest post and he’s going to do one for my blog…Write Dorne.  I’ve never done a guest post before and I have no idea how to behave …so I’ll just be myself.  I’ve been blogging for a whole seven months now and it still amazes me that people follow me, like my posts and generally take any notice of me at all.  If I really stopped to think about blogging and the blogosphere in general I’d probably be too spooked to write anything.  It’s pretty scary isn’t it and cool all wrapped up?  So, I try not to think about it…that’s not too difficult – not thinking comes naturally!

There have been times in the past, when I’ve posted my ideas in the blogosphere and then had a major panic, as I have decided that I didn’t want the thing out there – too late, press that publish button and it’s gone.  Know that feeling?  In fact, to be honest just about every time I press that button I get butterflies.  It’s very addictive, isn’t it?  Unfortunately, the whole world has had the opportunity to discover my tipsy ramblings, usually on a Friday night, fuelled by wine.  When I’ve read them back the next day, I’ve trashed them and vowed to never do a repeat performance.  But, it’s too late the damn things are at large, embarrassing me and the pathetic images are plastered all over Google.

And I never learn, I just can’t help myself.  Friday night rolls around again, I partake of a little wine and off we go.  I’m making myself sound like a right wino here.  I’m not…I’m human, with a blog and I should not go anywhere near it when drinking wine…or strong, black coffee.  That’s true of any blogger really, isn’t it?  We should really be given a drink/blogging test and our laptops be removed if we are found to be blogging under the influence.

The really scary thing about my writing on my blog, when I’m ever so slightly sloshed, is my grammar and writing in general is far superior to when I’m cold sober.  Take now for instance, if I’d been sipping the wine this post would have had a bit of sparkle to it. Instead of the safe, boring post it is turning out to be. [Big yawn.]  But, I can’t come on here, as a guest; drunk and singing songs.  I have to behave – so you’ve got this thing, instead.  Sorry about that.  I’m sitting here, sipping my Earl Grey tea and eating my biscuits, which Hugh has kindly provided.  Thank you Hugh…they’re lovely.  Did you bake them yourself?

So, if you haven’t tried blogging under the influence yet, give it a go.  You might be pleasantly surprised by the results.  Just don’t go anywhere near your blog if you are completely blotto, out of your tree or naked. Those pictures and videos, that you somehow manage to upload to You Tube will live with you forever…in a sort of a James Herbert character way.  Like everything else a little of what you fancy does you good.  So, that’s me. Thank you for reading and if you’ve been affected by any of the issues raised in this post speak to Hugh, or The Samaritans!

Thanks to Hugh, for being very brave and asking me to guest blog on here.
I love reading Hugh’s blog; he has a similar take on life and sense of humour to me.  He always manages to inject his unique personality into his writing.  Many a time I’m unable to breathe from laughing too much, when I’ve read his posts…so thanks for that Hugh!
Check me out at …if you dare!

Thank you so much, Dorne, for being my very first guest blogger.  It was a real pleasure to have you write something for Hugh’s Views and News.  And please, everyone, go check out Dorne’s blog and enjoy her wonderful writing.  I was hooked from day one and am a huge fan of Write Dorne.
