I’ve never been a huge fan of reading books, but my recent arrival into the world of Blogging has tempted me to start reading more.
Yes, most of the reading I do is of the work of other bloggers, most of whom I follow because their writing and work not only fascinates, but also inspires me.
One such blogger who I follow and who has also inspired me, Cyril Bussiere, has recently self published a book entitled Short Shorts and as I enjoy writing short stories myself, I downloaded a copy of his book so that I could compare his version of a short story to mine.
Containing only nine short stories, it did not take me long to read the whole book, but from the moment I started reading it, I was captivated and taken to the short story world of the author. Every story was very different, with no obvious theme connecting the stories apart, that is, from the feelings I got when reading each story, which Cyril must have had when he wrote each one. Those feelings were there with me in the room as I turned each page and I was wanting not only more but, much, much more.
Cyril Bussiere has a way with words which make them very digestible to read. In some of the stories, I felt I was actually there witnessing the story unfold right in front of me. His words carry you along smoothly, never once did I have to stop and re-read anything because of any uncertainly of what exactly was happening. I particularly liked the variation in every story which was unique in every way. If I were able to give a medal for the whole book then it would have to be a gold one.
Short Shorts is available to download from Amazon at a cost of just seventy-nine pence. What also really delighted me, was once I downloaded a copy, Amazon sent me an email with a one pound credit attached towards my next music purchase from them. So not only did I come away with a fantastic read of a book, but I ended up in credit for purchasing something I’d wanted to order in the first place. However, if you don’t want to pay seventy-nine pence for downloading the book, then it can be downloaded for free from Amazon on the 18th and 19th September. So take it from me, somebody who does not give much credit for books, download a copy, read it and leave Cyril a review on Amazon for his amazing book. I know he’ll be very pleased for the review and for you taking the time to read his wonderful short stories.
