Silhouette – The WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge

This week’s WordPress weekly photo challenge is Silhouette.

‘Wow’ I thought when I heard what the challenge was.  I thought I was going to have to miss out on this one, but I’ve had a good dig in the archives and come up with these shots.  I hope you like them.

    1. Hi Ruth, yes it had. That picture was taken at the beginning of this year during the winter storm season we had here in the UK. Some of the benches along the seafront were completely covered in pebbles. In fact some of the pebbles reached the road which is about 100 metres away form the beach. I hope we have a crisp cold dry winter this time and not a wild, mild, wet one like last winter.

  1. I like them all, Hugh (perhaps I am drawn more to “Morning Calm, Venice” and “After the Storm” the most, though). All very beautiful stuff. And “Madness Statue.” That’s very intriguing!

      1. Now that you mention that, I do believe I remember looking at stories and a picture on your blog of, I think, the closing ceremony. That must have been a lifetime thrill (I can sort of imagine!)!

      2. Oh it was. It was wonderful to be there and be a part of it all. I’ll never ever forget it even though those tickets were very expensive. Yes, I posted a picture of the Olympic Rings in a previous post, so well remembered, Leigh.

  2. Great set of photos for this week’s challenge. Hard to pick a favourite but I like the last one a lot. What a fiery sky, I bet you felt as if you were on another planet looking at it 🙂

    1. Yes, we could have almost been on another planet like Mars, but it was actually taken in Wales a few weeks ago. They have lovely sunsets there, unlike we have here in Brighton & Hove due to the light pollution from the city. Thanks for the lovely comments, Mabel.

  3. I like the first photo of the frozen stream best. I’ve never seen a frozen stream! All my skating has been done on roller skates. Remember the 80’s and roller skates? Lol! Also love the photo from Venice. My fav Italian city. Cheers, Hugh!

    1. The ice on that steam was so thin, Maria, that it resulted in Toby going through the ice and John having to go in after him. John ended up with wellington boots full of icy cold water and he had to walk back to his sister’s house to get them off! Toby was fine although he takes great care now whenever approaching any water 🙂

I had several pairs of roller skates and remember going to some roller skate discos as well. They were great fun even with a few bumps and bruises.

  4. sounds like an icy adventure for John and Toby! I used to skate when I was a kid and hired skates. then when skating was so popular in the 80’s I bought myself a pair of white skates – what a thrill! Lol! 😀
